Jesus grossly exaggerated to make a point

Regarding the trillions and trillions of years people will be tortured for not believing in your interpretation of an ancient text that contradicts itself, keep in mind that Jesus exaggerated, used parables, symbolism, and often didn't speak clearly or literally.

I will admit that it is good to respect and fear God. I can sort of see why Christ used so many hyperboles (exaggerations).

I kid you not, I was in a mental hospital where a young man plucked out his eyes to purge himself of lust and pornography addiction. He was just doing what Jesus told him to do.

He didn't understand that Jesus was making a huge exaggeration to make a point. Jesus did exaggerate at times. Should I pluck out my eyes, because I know my eyes lead me to sin?

If not, you confirm my point that Jesus was exaggerating to make a point. Sometimes parents do that to scare their children into avoiding a certain behavior.

That boils down if the Bible said that Satan will be treated that way. Given time, no one is better than Satan when put in a complete isolation from God as God is the sole source of good.

It's important to point out that nobody knows what Jesus said or did. All we know from the Bible is what other people claim He said or did.
The difference is very important under many circumstances.

I don't know, you probably get bonus points for actually plucking your eye out, few could do that.

Exaggeration is a form of lieing. Are you saying that Jesus lied?

I don't think it's hyperbole or lying, it's just a word choice that drove home a point. Like when we say ''I slept like a baby.'' This means I slept really well, it doesn't mean I literally balled myself up into a fetal position and sucked on a pacifier all night. Jesus was just making a point, and used a play on words to drive it home.

Come on people. :D

I also think eternal damnation was a play on words like a Father trying to scare his children to deter them from bad behavior.

God changes his mind in Scripture. We can get him to change his mind about eternal torture for unbelievers.

I think God changes with time and becomes more kind and reasonable. We see a huge change from the old to New Testament.

How much he must have changed in the last 2000 years.

Those who follow Satan and worship the beast do not understand what Christ is. Jesus and the rest of us servants testified to the knowledge of God called Christ in order for God to understand who He and Man are.

Well, people change and our ideas of a god change. ;) God actually stays pretty constant, I would guess.

Supposedly, Satan knows Scripture.
