There is in The New Testament Canon Scripture no reason given for marraige otger than the single statement from Saul, 1 Cor. 7:7 "To avoid fornication, let every man have his own wife, and let every woman have her own husband."
So, this means Jesus does not care why people actually decide to marry each other. It matters not to Him if people marry because:
1.) They try to say the nonsense "God Brought Us Together!"
2.) They "Love each other." Yes, and AFTER they marry they are to love each other, but far less than they love Jesus and God, according to the Bible.
3.) To try to "bring into God's Kingdom Godly children." But, Jesus never preached the Gospel to children. Jesus never did much for children other than to tell The Disciples not to harass them, because Heaven belongs to self centered and ignorant people like children.
4.) Of sheer physical lust for each other.
5.) For mere pragmatic issues, such as breeding healthy offspring, political alliances, unification of financial fortunes, and to satisfy macho sexuality as did King David and King Solomon with their many wives and concubines.
So you see, the notion of romantic courtship and marriage being "special to God" is nonsense. Courtship and marriage in Scripture is NEVER called "special." In fact, Jesus' First Miracle was to make 150 gallons of wine to make sure everybody at a huge wedding got totally drunk. Getting totally drunk does not demonstrate a lot of inherent "specialness" in romantic marriage.
