It's Time For The Simpsons To End It All

I'm willing to tolerate some clinkers.
Even in its golden age, we had the hideous “The Principal & The Pauper”.
But in 2022, the series has entirely lost it.
Not one redeeming episode.
- Lame unfunny writing.
- Eliminating Apu for political correctness.
- Replacing white actors with woke-acceptable ones.
- Novelty is gone.
- Stories have become akin to Davey & Goliath.

Everyone involved should be ashamed of what they produce.
(Except for the animators....they just have nothing to work with.)
You had a good run for a while.
RIP.

I haven't really watched it since the early days, and I often hear how the show has gone down hill since the 90's, but has there been any occasional gems or has it been consistently crap?

Twilight Hue

Twilight, not bright nor dark, good nor bad.

I thought the novelty was gone after about four seasons, and should have been axed then...:D

Oh well, certainly it had the ratings to gain sponsorship...I have rarely smiled or laughed more than once or twice during an episode, although I must admit I haven't watched more than a few seconds of any episode now for many years...:D

I haven't followed the Simpsons in a while. Then I watched a forgettable episode recent. I can't remember what happened. That's a decent indicator the show is over.

The only episodes I've watched recently have been the annual Treehouse of Horror ones and even those have been mediocre.

After the golden age (1st 9 years), there have
been some good'ns, eg, HOMR (2001), Trilogy
Of Error (2001), A Serious Flanders (2021),
& various Treehouse Of Horror bits.

I too can only remember impressions,
since nothing of substance happened.

Seinfeld ended on a high note. SNL &
The Simpsons could learn the value of
not making us watch rigor mortis set in.

No way!
They had 9 years of greatness.
We'd have missed one of the best ever in 1997,
"Homer's Enemy". This episode with Frank Grimes
was highly original, bizarre, & hilarious.

In the Simpsons universe, intelligence & hard
work are punished with failure, benign disregard,
& ultimately a grisly death. That's what happens
when a sort-of-real person is plunked down in
the Springfield Nuclear Power Plant.
Seldom does TV ever reach such heights.

How do you think the show should end if you were to give it an ending?
I've been wondering about that.
No good ideas yet, but some breaking the 4th wall possibilities....
- Kodos & Kang attack & destroy Earth because
the Simpsons have become so tedious.
- The characters all resign because the scripts are
so bad, & the ratings so low. Family Guy did something
similar in "You Can't Handle The Booth".

OK, that last one is actually a great idea.

I honestly didn’t realise they were still going until it popped up on my Disney+ account after they bought Fox
(Still seems like bizarre combo to me lol)

I'm surprised it's lasted this long.

They could always bring back an updated reboot of Clutch Cargo. Now there was a cartoon.

I haven't watched any episodes in the last couple of years.

Now I want to just to see how bad it's gotten. :p
