You posted the answer. Large heavy objects take a long time to heat up. We see that at all levels. A large cut of meat takes longer to cook than a small one.

The phrase you’re looking for is “Thermal Mass”.
Any big heavy stone structure will do the trick. Museums, old college buildings, sky scrapers, bunkers,…..
A very well insulated wood building with good insulation, that also has good insulation…o_O….will also keep you cool on hot days. ;)

The pueblo communities here in the Southwest have been using this principle for hundreds of years. The adobe buildings would stay cool inside for most of the day, and when the temperatures dropped at night the previous day's heat was still radiating inside.
