What is a situation where you were having fun and got hurt bad?

I have plenty but will refrain from sharing due to the rules of RF.

Something that doesn't involve illegal activity was I was dancing and horse-playing with a relative whose teeth got chipped hitting my knee :-(

We were in a swimming pool and I did a handstand and managed to knock my foot into my step-sister's chin. Ouchies ensued.

I had warned folks tho

I dove into the deep end of a 12 foot deep pool, and as I pulled both hands/arms back to stroke down and away from the wall that I had just dove in from…..I discovered that this particular deep end was only 9 feet deep.:(

My lips were immediately strained through my teeth as my mouth impacted the bottom of the pool.

I clenched my shredded lips together so as to not bleed into the pool too much. Pushed off the bottom, and jumped back out and headed to the locker room, while still pulling strips of my lips out from between my front teeth.
    “Luckily” I didn’t loose any teeth. :D

On the moors coming back from visiting relatives in Yorkshire, hubby was driving. I was 5 month pregnant and need a pee. Told hubby to stop, slid out of the car, vaulted over the dry stone wall and into to mid air above a 12 ft drop.

Bruised and twisted ankles but lucky nothing was broken but spent the night in hospital ensuring i would not spontaneously abort.

A friend I had in my teenaged years and I used to beat the mess out of each other for fun. I busted his nose. He busted my finger. We both got hurt, but it was still fun. I remember hearing my finger crack, pausing and saying "you broke my finger, you [insert bad word here]", and went right back to fighting.

I remember breaking up with an ex who had really screwed me over. He told me "I thought this was all just for fun." No, it wasn't, and it was certainly far from fun.

Once I was driving a four wheeler fast downhill and lost control. I was headed to some trees and so I jumped off. I didn’t feel pain right away, but later on I did.

When I was 7, I lived in flats and someone was throwing out small lit fireworks from the third floor.
One of them went down my jumper and I couldn't get it out.
I ended up spending every morning in hospital to get bandages changed, for six months,
Due to poor treatment, it left my chest scarred for life.
The only plus in all this was that I got of school for all that time.

To this day I don't how the firework got down there as I was wearing a polo neck.

@Jedster just reminded me of another one. Age 7 a friend and i were playing in the ruins, he jumped on my back, i fell forward stretching my arms out to break the fall. His weight and mine shattered my left elbow pushing my lower arm up unto my upper arm. The remains of my elbow joint protruded at shoulder and wrist.

No local hospitals had an orthopedic surgeon skilled enough to fix it properly so rather than leaving me with a useless arm a more skilled surgeon was flown from London. Following a 7 hour op and 6 weeks in plaster my arm worked fairly normally but was a little weak.

To fix the joint together the surgeon had inserted a silver pin. The 6 inch scar is hardly noticeable any more

Several years passed and we went on a family holiday to Bulgaria, Sofia airport was part military part civilian and was patrolled by groups of very scary looking eastern block armed guards! They had newly installed metal detectors which went crazy when yours truly went through.

I assure you that the sound of 6 Kalashnikovs sliding to readiness to target you and being cocked in an eastern block country is a good advertisement for the need for rubber underwear

I think I'd prefer my scar than your burns.

    Hmm...

Sports injuries. Roughly a dozen or so instances of torn ankle ligaments (cold mornings are not fun at this point), 2 broken noses, torn ligaments in my hand, 2 dislocated thumbs, broken ribs on two occasions, broken arm, a broken finger, 6 stitches in my chin, 6 stitches in my right ring finger...and that's not counting concussions, split lips, eyebrows, heads, torn muscles, badly bruised knee ligaments...

And to think I play to stay healthy...lol

    Heh....
Funnily enough I get less injuries these days, despite being older and less flexible. Just not moving at the same velocity or jumping as high.

Most of the ankle injuries were caused by leaping and then landing on other players feet. The arm and rib breaks were straight out collision at pace.

    Much less likely these days.

A doc wanted to reconstruct both my ankles 20+ years ago, so I figure I'm doing okay, considering the baseline.
