I love Yahweh, I just find he makes poor choices, is a mass murderer, a Dictator, is extremely obsessed with himself, and extremely jealous when people turn to another Deity.

How could you argue he isn't narcissistic?...he destroys people and damns them to hell for not worshipping him. That sounds narcissistic to the core!

And how is it not cruel to curse everyone with original sin and multiply birth pains in women because somebody ate a piece of fruit they weren't supposed to eat?

Hi Pope. Does Matthew 5, containing the attributes of the son of Yahweh (who had his qualities), sound like narcissism to you?

"3Blessed are the poor in spirit: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
4 Blessed are they that mourn: for they shall be comforted.
5 Blessed are the meek: for they shall inherit the earth.
6 Blessed are they that hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled.
7 Blessed are the merciful: for they shall obtain mercy.
8 Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see Yahweh.
9 Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called sons of Yahweh.
10 Blessed are they that have been persecuted for righteousness’ sake: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. "

    I didn't think so.

He also ordered people to kill women, children, and babies. He heartlessly mercilessly killed the first born of Egypt for crimes they didn't commit, flooded Earth killing babies and innocent children, ordered people to be killed for working on Saturday, had adulterers stoned to death, ordered nations to be annihilated, and cursed all humanity with original sin.

I love the beatitudes, but you are cherry picking Scripture....ah well, who doesn't cherry pick

Son of Yaweh wasn't a narcissist, it was the father Yahweh that was. The Ten Commandments even calls Yahweh jealous of other God worship.

Hi Pope. The Egyptians first-born were killed partly because of Exodus 1:22. Some might say they got off lightly. You seem to forget that. In Noah's flood, Yahweh saved alive the only people who were actually trying to keep his Covenant and that stays true for the whole Bible. If you've read the account in Genesis 6:5 it says that the 'imagination of men was on evil continually'. And yes, Yahweh has always destroyed people for violating His perfect Law throughout the Bible. He created us, He has every right to take back what He has given should the people choose to oppose His way of life.

If I established a law and killed people for breaking it and demanded that everyone worship me or be destroyed, would you consider me a narcissist?

The Father and the Son had the same personality, that's clear from John 17. They worked as one. You can't say the Messiah was different from the Father. The Messiah was perfect, and the only other one that is perfect is the Father, as Matthew 5:48 where the Messiah states " Ye therefore shall be perfect, as your heavenly Father is perfect."

I vote no, because I consider the 'Yahweh' an ancient human view of God as described in the Old Testament, and even problematic in some references in the New Testament.

God ('Yahweh') is only known from the human view by the attributes of God. I consider this an apophatic view of God.

If there is a god, "his" nature wouldn't be dictated by the words and writings of primitive mortals.

I know 'perfect' is kind of an ambiguous word but should it include jealousy and vengeance?

If you or I claimed to be the Creator of the universe and Omnipotent then we could rightly be considered grandiose and narcissistic. However if God really has created the universe and is omnipotent, is it narcissistic? I don't believe so. I think he's just telling us something we need to know. Same deal with heaven and hell. I call it being informative rather than narcissistic.

I voted yes. I think Yahweh is a tribal deity that's gotten out of control.

I think his heyday was in the past. Instead of trying to destroy religious diversity like in the past, we're largely more interested in trying to preserve other cultures. Those who commit cultural genocide are seen as lunatics these days.

It's called population growth. Most of the world still isn't Christian.
