Essentially it's true; we consume materials for energy and our brains harness this energy in order to animate and direct our bodies.
The energy of the Universe is being harnessed to direct change.

I used to be a fan of a popular anime where characters could concentrate energy into projectiles and destroy entire landscapes with it.
