Is there a comprehensive list of all religions major positive messages?

Hello!

Do you know of any comprehensive texts or lists that lay out every root positive message of every religion or at least the big religions? Like if we were to take every story, proverb, parable, or tall tale and pull out the root philosophy and basic idea that it is trying to get across then we could have a master book that is just those combined crossover messages and forget all the rest of the lies and fluff and hate and war and eye for an eye and infidels and church and praying and ritual, etc?

Thanks all!

According to the link below there are over 4,300 religions in the world. even a list from one religion would be vast.

If your looking for common links in religions, you may be interested in omnism as a place to start.

Thanks. I'm aware of the vastness, but hoping to hit the major ones that have the most impact. I'll check out that wiki link.

what does this mean?

It just means if you take all the crazy stuff out of the Bible, you could boil the message down to "be a nice person" or more comically, "don't be a dick."

That's really the thrust of all religious messages isn't it? Be nice to people, do good things, don't be cruel, etc. Many people including myself feel that all wacky stories like Lot and Job and magical zoo-boats and talking shrubs cloud what should be the important central message.

It may be frustrating to decide what counts as positive in any one religion. At least in such a way as to convince others.

Were it easy, odds are that they would have done so on their own, individually, don't you think?

It depends what people see as positive. Some see positive where I see negative and the other way around.

No, and several religions regard their best lessons to be ones that you only learn after you have been in for a long time.

The problem here is that for many religions there is not a "positive message." For them it is simply "this is how the world is, make of it what you will."
