Or is it too much of a strawman comparison? Its very simplified. But just as one who read Sunni hadiths once. He does kind of give that vibe honestly.
Edit: I mean the cartoon, not the live action movie. The one from 1992

Perhaps you'd like to be more specific than, "he gives that vibe?" And do you actually mean the cuddly stout sultan, or Jafar, the bad guy?

No i mean the Sultan. The jolly guy who is the father of Jasmine in the cartoon
    In the cartoon he is
    - Sort of naive. Easy trusting
    - Caring, but little bit determined if he knows something is wrong
    - A little childish
    - Got hypnotized once

Basically that. Cant help think of the similarities of what i read in hadiths with that character is all

Again, it would perhaps help if you quoted the hadiths you think bear a resemblance.

Well i dont go into that. I mean the overall character, his manners and stuff. Not his overall physical outlook

It would be too much work haha.
But i can tell what i remember from my head.

In the hadiths its more like this
He got combed one time, and got put into spell.
He is very strict on some rules, but he tries to act like a warner that believing in Allah and accepting Muhammad as the messenger is one way to get to heaven. Otherwise he doesnt want to put difficulties on his followers aswell. So being a believer in balanced way and not overdoing it is basically the best kind of faith. Also forcing someone to marriage is also not ok, atleast you can annull the marriage if the lady doesnt want too. (while in the cartoon he technically doesnt force it, but its more that he is gonna die someday and try to find some heir basically)

I could go on but, just some short summary

Edit: But you may ask, isnt comparing it to this kind of odd? Well its also this one hadith that keeps popping up in my head. Here is it

It is narrated on the authority of Ibn 'Umar ('Abdullah b. 'Umar) that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) observed:

Verily Islam started as something strange and it would again revert (to its old position) of being strange just as it started, and it would recede between the two mosques just as the serpent crawls back into its hole.
    Sahih Muslim 146

Hadith - The Book of Faith - Sahih Muslim - Sunnah.com - Sayings and Teachings of Prophet Muhammad (صلى الله عليه و سلم)

Basically, the Sultan from that cartoon is closest that comes to my mind if i think of the characteristics and manners is all.

Are you seriously taking Hadith as a reliable source of information? I mean, really? Do you think bunch of unconfirmed hearsays which started out centuries after the death of Prophet Muhammad S.A.W. and has been passed on from one person to another for even more centuries ... can be trusted as factual?

From what I remember from the Qur'an [the only source I consider to be reliable when it comes to Prophet Muhammad S.A.W. and his life, his ordeals etc.], the closest any fictional character I can think of which has any resemblance to Prophet Muhammad S.A.W. is Big Boss from Metal Gear Solid series. This tribute video is the closest that can show a fictionalized version of Prophet Muhammad's life [although there are still some major differences]:

    Great game btw!

But i think problem is the reason a culture cant develop, is because of devotion culture. Take Catholicism for example. Sure it can work aslong as it doesnt have major authority in world government. Middle ages to mention a few.

If Islam had its own protestantism, then it could actually be efficient way of going forward but also not lose in whatever they have faith in and still progress the world in a sense. But i merely was trying to imagine based on the hadiths themself from what i read. Being sceptical if they are true is also a interesting take on it.

Great game and probably the best gaming series ever.

I think the problem here is Muslims, and their ignorance, irrationality and arrogance. They can't put 2 and 2 together and come to the conclusion that all they are getting from Hadiths are bunch of hearsays, and as such, not reliable [and also, as such, shouldn't be taken seriously]. This is just one of the many, MANY example just how ignorant and irrational [or, dare I say, stupid] Muslims are in general. Then comes their arrogance, which is second to none. These guys believe that their religion is oh-so-totally-absolutely-without-a-shadow-of-a-doubt perfect and there's no need for reformation. And if any says otherwise, he/she is a kafir and/or hypocrite and/or heretic. That is why Muslims are not progressing, growing and advancing like the Western world has.

Ignorance and arrogance usually breeds destruction. Western society has learned this lesson the hard way, reformed themselves, took science and philosophy and brought their culture in line with modern, enlightened, secular, more humane values. Muslims should do the same. They are making their prophet and Islam look bad in the eyes of the world.

Anyway, I don't think any sensible individual would take Hadiths seriously. I would personally like to ask Left Coast's assessment as to what he think about my argument against Hadith and their unreliable nature as I consider Left Coast to be one of the best members here [if not THE best members here]. Always enjoy reading what Left Coast has to say.
