I was told that since the Qur'an says the "heavens and the earth was created in six days" it is a young earther. The proposing evidence was this statement.

As most would already know and repeatedly heard throughout, this verse says "ayyam" which is a dual-plural term for day.

This is many times referred to a period of time, as in when someone speaks of stages. The language here is called majroor case where the noun is changing the meaning of the qualifying word. Thus, it does not mean one day as in 24 hours. This kind of argument is coming from the biblical background where many people thought that creation happened in six X 24 hour days.

Is there any other argument that shows that the Qur'an is a "young earther"?

    Cheers.

If i recall correctly 1 day in heaven is like 50.000 years on earth, described in the quran
So that means creation took atleast 300.000 years seen from earth hours:)

Verse 70:4 I believe it is, have to check it to be sure.

compared to how long it really took, 300,000 might as well be a short week

I can not say if everything was finished in 300.000 years :) maybe it still is an ongoing prosess?

What about Adam, being the first human in the Quran? How would that be compatible with evolution?
A question is, when did Adam live?
Quran does not say explicitly, how many years ago Adam lived.
But according to Hadithes, Adam lived 6000 years ago.
Now, this 6000 years, can mean the 6 days creation, each day 1000 years. Thus, the 6 Days, could imply the 6000 years, starting from Adam.

Thus, if Quran says the first human lived on earth 6000 years ago, wouldn't it mean, it is a young earther?

Well, I believe all of such verses are Mutishabihat, and have another interpretation, known as Taweel. But, if one does not believe them to be Mutishabihat, how could they not be a young earther?

Don't you ever grow tired of constantly having to "hunt" for what is meant in any given sentence?
This quran book sounds extremely dubious.

You'ld think an all-power super intelligence would be able to be less ambigous.

On what grounds can one interpret each day as 1000 years other than convenience?

Three years of law school teaches one to
    write unambiguous prose.

    Ha. Ambiguity. : D

And more precise ideas than that?

What any book does or does not say
is, to me, central to whether it is credible.

The Bible goes on about all manner of
nonsense so, its of little interest and less
    credibility to me.

I believe the days of creation do not refer to the physical world but to Divine Days. That is, since Adam there have been six Divine Days, when a Prophet of God arises, for these Books are heavenly Books and not all meanings are literal.

In the Adamic Cycle we have had the Day of Moses, Christ Muhammad, the Bab snd Baha’u’llah. This numbers 6 Days including Adam.

Also in the Bible in 2 Peter 3:8 it states:

But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.

    And from Abdul-Baha

What is intended by the creation of heaven and earth in six days is a spiritual creation and a divine day.

With the physical earth being some 4.5 billion years old, these references make much more sense when applied to the arising of Prophets in the Adamic Cycle.

If you look at the verses of Quran, where it says, 6 Days, it also says, a day is as a thousand year.

I don't know what the Qur'an says or the 100 ways it is possible to interpret. What I do know is that outside of the US, YEC is only prevalent in majority Muslim countries. So it seems that a lot of Muslim think the Qur'an to be "young Earth".
And that's the important part. The Bible is young earth but most Christians don't take it literal or don't take it serious. That makes it possible for them to accept science.

Islam, in the Golden Age, was a boon for science, Baghdad the centre of the academic world. And then Al Ghazali happened.
