Please read the article. Is the author correct that the media is “race obsessed,” and that this story would have garnered significant national attention had the races been reversed?

If so, is this so-called “race obsession” helpful or hurtful to the U.S?

here’s the article: Race-Obsessed Media Don't Care About The Brutal Murder Of 5-Year-Old

No he is extremely wrong on all account. The story was also mentionned by CNN and USATODAY, two of the largest national media in the USA. The author is just attempting some whataboutism to avoid and denigrate the subject of systemic racism and police brutality.

Cannon Hinnant shooting: 25-year-old has been charged in the death of 5-year-old Hinnant - CNN

The Federalist is generally speaking a pretty bad source of information. They are heavily biaised and generally run articles against the scientific consensus on a wealth of issues and promoted pseudo-scientific claims.

Looks like the two articles you posted came significantly after bone I posted. Maybe they eventually covered the story because of the backlash by non-mainstream sources?

The USATODAY article was published 24 hours later. That's could be due to editorial and publishing timing especially without evidence of a backlash. Local media have also published the story sooner than both the Federalist and other sources.

Police have man in custody after 5-year-old fatally shot in N.C.

A UK based news source even talked about it before the Federalist. Talk about the media avoiding the issue.

Pay attention. It was about US national media. Not local media or the UK.
Now, do you think coverage would have been different had the races been reversed?
If so, is that good or bad for the US? Does it help us as a country or hurt us?

Why moving the goalpost? Note that ABC is a national news channel too and they talked about it on the August 10 (and ABC is a left leaning news media too, further debunking the claims of the Federalist).

No, the coverage is abundant and of quality.

As I mentionned before, the Federalist is a rag that published numerous dangerous lies that does hurt the US and its citizen. People don't need misrepresentation of scientific data, pseudo-science and good old fashion lies.

Why not quote all the race obsessed comments by Trump and Fox? President Obama was subjected to endless racism during his presidency. Kamala Harris is getting that crap now.

Why not cover the racist remarks by Republicans in Congress and elsewhere?

Oh wait, this is not about racism in general, it's about making political points. Got it.

I picked one, & researched it.
He was wrong about USA Today.
But it doesn't really matter....news coverage does show racial
disparity....or do you disagree, & find coverage to be equal?

    As for the crickets.....
I did some research, but you did none.
Instead you jumped on his bandwagon with whataboutism about Trump.

I didn’t move the goalposts. The article was very much about national media.

You also didn’t answer my question.

Not national media, which is what the article was about. So do you see any disparity in the coverage based on race?

How about the ABC news article from august 10? That's national news and published 24 hours after the murder. I just found one from FoxNews that dates from the 11th.

    Which question did I missed?

I think coverage and reaction does tend to be different depending on the racial combinations.

    ABC11 is local, not national.
The question was about whether coverage would be different if the races were reversed, and if so, whether that would be helpful or harmful to the nation.

I think that’s probably true. If it is different, is that good or bad? Right or wrong? Helpful or harmful to the country?

It's an affiliated branch of a national news network. I would count it in.

I don't think the treatment would have been much difference if the perpetrator or victim were of a different race or gender. The event in and on itself is already extraordinary. It's a 5 years who wasn't murder by a parent or a babysitter. That's quite rare and more than enough to make the national headlines.

The news should be honest, objective, accurate, consistent, and thorough.
Whether your a conservative, a liberal, or whatever; if you're confident in your convictions, then there should be no reason to twist, embellish, downplay, or omit any facts.

    It's extremely harmful.
Both white & black folk tend to be unaware that wrongful
cop killings affect many more white that black folk.
Everyone should be more outraged at these deaths, &
    more demanding of change.
