I did a brief search on it and found the same thing as this link shows. Apparently, there's a single lawyer who works for the ACLU who made the statement. He's just one guy, not the entire ACLU.
I didn't see that you had already said that. I wouldn't have bothered with my post if I had seen yours.

ACLU Blames—Wait for It—'Conservative Christians' for Orlando
PJMedia is a fake news site with a far right ideology. This is proven by the conflating of a tiny minority with an entire organization - pure propaganda - in other words, a bald-faced lie.

The facts, not the right wing lies can be found here (with some examples below) The ACLU Fights for Christians

If you are Christian. Jesus and Paul indicate you should rejoice to be persecuted.

Jesus and the authors of the NT said Christians would be persecuted. It's God's will that you be persecuted. Deal with it! :)

Posting etiquette around here presumes that at the very least posters, especially those who start a thread, be reasonably accommodating. Expecting others to read your mind and work their way toward your point is a bit disrespectful, and as a matter of practicality, invites them to ignore you. But hey, if you don't care, so be it.

They blamed Christians for Orlando.
First, the ACLU did not suggest this, specific employees of the ACLU did. Their personal twitter does not represent the ACLU. They are not able to use their personal twitter accounts to speak for the organization as a whole.
Then, the first line of the article reads "the un-american civil liberties union", so their bias is absolutely apparent. This is the kind of outlets we should all avoid paying any mind to, as they aren't just tilted in bias, they are full-fledged.

The fact that they dishonestly attributed personal twitter accounts of ACLU employees as speaking for the organization as a whole is despicable.

The explain why the ACLU didn't denounce this lawyer in their organization.

I am convinced that by now there really is no convincing fundamentalist/conservative Christians that the ACLU is not out to get them, they don't hate them, but rather to the contrary the ACLU has--time and time and time and time again--defended the civil liberties of Christians throughout America.

It's a lot like Christians, abortion, and Planned Parenthood.
Christians often claim to be against abortion. But they also advocate defunding the single most effective anti-feticide organization in the country. They repeat the claim that PP uses taxpayer funding to provide abortions and that PP is a genocidal group against black people.
