I appreciate the humor....but it doesn't wash away the look in my daughters' eyes.

She's almost 21, now. So too late for that.

I too remember how deceived I felt when I found out Santa was a ruse, almost a half-century ago.

It did take me until I was about 47 to figure out what I believed. She's smarter than her old man, though. She'll figure it out.... no thanks to me.

Santa, like many other "Christmas" traditions originated with Paganism. The message of Christ came much later. So no, Santa is not Satan, regardless of the closeness of names.

The irony is that you consider the idea of Santa to be logic defying magic, but not the idea of Christ.

I like to think that I could've saved her a lot of time and trouble.... but that goes for everyone with kids on every subject there is.

Humans simply HAVE to learn things for themselves.

You screwed up, so accept it and be a good parent. Every parent screws up. Her eventual belief or non-belief is going to be up to her, so live by what you believe and be a good parent.

Okay? He's not a tool of Satan either. He's a remnant of Paganism in modern society. Nothing Satanic about that. I don't believe in Satan, but if I did, commercialism might be considered one of his tools. Regardless, Santa is nothing but a jolly old man in a red suit that gives presents to children. Or so the story goes.
