Is Khalistan like Israel or Palestine?

Do Sikhs feel they lost their homes to the British and later India (like Palestine) or do they feel that they need their own country and laws (like Israel)?

I find this Khalistan movement to be bigger than people think. Are the Sikhs happy living in India or too scared of the government to protest about human rights in India? Is this why Khalistan is being envisioned by British and Canadian Sikhs?
