No, but it is French. Le poisson d'Avril (literally April Fish).

As I understand it, there was a time when April 1st ushered in the new year. When it was changed to January 1st, those who clung to April 1st being the new year were called un poisson d'Avril (an April fish). People used to prank those who still followed the April 1st new year.

Unless my French teacher lied to us when I was in high school.
