They don't it's just a fact.
Alone we spend more than Russia, China, and the next 4 countries COMBINED on the top 10 list of biggest military spenders.
A "fact", eh?
I know that one cannot argue against a claimed fact....they're never wrong.
But is it possible...just possible, that much of our spending is wasted on
foreign adventurism rather than on weapons development & readiness
for defense?
Moreover, one's ability to defend vs conquer a country could be asymmetric.
A deadly defense could be....might could be, cheaper.
A $1M hypersonic missile could take out a $10B aircraft carrier.
We haven't because we are not tyrants that want to rule the world. If we did want to rule the world, it would have been done already as we have the means already at hand.
The countries we've attacked or otherwise
coerced might differ on whether we're tyrants.

It is when backed up with citations that include the data to support it. I provided a link.

We have the most advanced military tech in the world it's not cheap.

Moreover, one's ability to defend vs conquer a country could be asymmetric.

Irrelevant because we are not seeking do to that now are we.

A deadly defense could be....might could be, cheaper.

It is, but if we didn't patrol the strait of Hormuza for example, Iran would lock it down and control it, and oil prices would increase for the entire world.

That's not such a big deal for the U.S. We now export more oil than we import. But a huge increase in oil prices suddenly would harm other smaller countries, including Europe.

The countries we've attacked or otherwise
coerced might differ on whether we're tyrants.

Haters gonna hate.

It's relevant to the claim about the reason we
don't attack them, ie, that we're just so moral.
We'd get our arsches kicked, even if we won.
It's the MAD strategy.

Has nothing to do with morality.

Who wants the headache?

We have hard enough time dealing with our own problems.

Yeah, that was a total disaster of the sort the USA is famous for committing.

Yes it was as the nation was turned over to Islamists.

But we're talking about Iran in 2019, and yet another disaster we're angling to commit. And some people seem to think that this one will go well! Against a country that we turned into an enemy 40 years ago, launched a devastating war against in the 80s, and has been planning for this war for 20 years.

No war yet. I am against occupation. Just repeat the 80s strikes and call it a day.

If you think that Iraq and Libya were disastrous, take a look at the Iran we are looking to attack.

Difference is that the nation is already ran by Islamists. It can not go much lower than that.

U.S. Military Spending vs. the World

Alone we spend more than Russia, China, and the next 4 countries COMBINED on the top 10 list of biggest military spenders.

China's soldiers are paid 1/4 of what the US pays. Think about that in your stats that hide details so you only see the big number. Wages also factor into the costs for weapon costs which the US does not outsource to another nation. The US also enforces international law while China is building islands to circumvent those treaties. Ergo it has the burden of policing costs as the rest of the West reduces it's military thus their own policing costs. The US is picking up the slack everyone else decided they didn't want to bother with.

History shows otherwise. Communism for example is pure greed under the guise of benevolence. Look up the Kulaks.

Sorry dude.
History doesn't show otherwise.

Look up slavery, the genocide of the Americas, EuroColonialism, and a host of other atrocities committed by Christians through the centuries.

But what I was actually talking about the modern world, run by Christian USA.

Wrong. The Kulak were executed for being good farmer which showed the collective farming system was a failure.

Look up slavery

India and Ottoman Empire ring a bell?

the genocide of the Americas

Most deaths were the result of disease.

EuroColonialism

Islamic colonialism

and a host of other atrocities committed by Christians through the centuries.

Look up Muslim atrocities. Do note Christian does not equate American.

But what I was actually talking about the modern world, run by Christian USA.
