Individual state laws

There exist some laws in the US left up to the individual states.

For example, last I checked, it isn't illegal on a national level for an employer to fire a person for their "gender identity".

But it is illegal in Illinois.

My question - it may not leave much to debate, but it seems like a question not often covered and worth its consideration:

Is it best to live in a state that agrees with your views, even if it means moving?

It can be, especially when moving means more acceptance, less **** from people, legal protections, work protections, and insurance coverage for what you need (and doctors who will work on you - keep in mind, for me, that includes way more than treatments for being trans, but also things like my crap knees).

It is certainly best for the states that you disagree with for you to leave and go to the state that agrees with you.

I say, by all means, go. And, good riddance.

Yet, that is not what you really want to hear...is it?

I've heard much worse from the conservative religious community.

Depends on the law, I suppose.
When I was in High School there was a technical legal loophole for underage drinking in Queensland. If you were 15 and eating a meal with your family in public, you were allowed an alcoholic beverage. So a lot of the time, as long as there was an adult present, staff left teens alone if they were sneaking a drink. (Not anymore alas.)
NSW didn’t have this old loophole no one bothered to close and well let’s just say we had to leave the restaurant in a hurry.

If it’s something more serious like more laws about protecting one as a person due to their sexuality, race ect then perhaps it’s best to move somewhere more “friendly.”

Im so glad that isn't a part of my life anymore (people taking me to leave) and these godless blue dem Socialist Californians treat me a million times better and more like Christ than those bigotted, blow whole, Bible Thumping Hoosiers who did, according to Jesus, make Jesus feel unwelcome in his home and drove him from there. Good for you. Jesus is so proud.
It almost makes me wish Jesus where real, because then people like you would have to answer for turning me away from him and filling my life with hatred and bitterness, to the point it was those not so concerned about religion who made it so I could work on getting over that hate. The hate that is in your hands.
Why don't you leave the country since you don't respect the basic rights of all citizens, which is unAmerican?

What does 'people taking me to leave' mean?

If people turned you away from God and Christ, (a constant excuse), then you never came to God and Christ. It is always someone else's fault.

I didn't start this thread. People like you did. The implication is that it is so bad, the people, in those Christian conservative states that I just have to move. But when I said good, go ahead, then my how you are offended.

And, which rights have I violated in my response?

I was talking from a law standpoint, not from a citizen standpoint.

There are different laws for transitioning (transgender) in different states, for example. That can affect someone quite a bit.

And many other examples.

You made it about the citizens.

You cannot make that division. The laws of the state represent the people. You asked if it is best to live in a state that agrees with your views even if it means moving.

Looks like I should stay in my own state then, considering:

1. This thread wasn't necessarily about me. I in fact live in a state which has Democrat laws and some good laws to try to protect.

2. Since all of the citizens reflect the laws, I shouldn't have to worry about discrimination from citizens for being transgender. In fact, the whole state should be blue, and not just Chicago and the surrounding areas. Thanks so much.

If I am embarrassing Christ, what are you doing?
I dont follow our worship him, so, nothing.

No, offended is upset. I'm pissed about it because I've heard it so many times from Christians. People tell you to leave your home, leave your family, your friends, leave behind everything you've ever known only because you don't conform to their beliefs (especially religious), after you've heard it enough you start to want to see people choke after they say it.
then you never came to God and Christ

Which is, of course, typical run of the mill Christian arrogance to assume that.

It's ultimately rooted in Christians who are very crappy at that "love thy neighbor as thy self" commandment, fail at it miserably, and absolutely suck at living up to it.

All of the citizens do not reflect the laws. The state laws reflect the majority in that state.

Some cities can be liberal but are located in a Conservative Red State.

Oh.

Again, the poster is the one asking about is it better to leave. Not me. But if they want to, I say fine.

I don't see why it is arrogance. It is my understanding of God and Christ and the Bible.

Of course it is. As I said, it is always someone else's fault. If I were to dress up as a klansman and go to an NAACP meeting, what reception should I expect? Their reaction would be their fault though...not mine.
