The Latest: Turkey concerned over Pakistan-India tensions

Both Turkey and China have called for Pakistan and India to open talks to try to de-escalate the situation, which was apparently re-ignited when 40 Indian soldiers were killed in a suicide bombing attack about two weeks ago.

Both countries have nukes. Not sure how this will play out, but it seems a bit ominous.

Hopefully cooler heads will prevail. The fact that both have nukes brings this long running disagreement to a whole different level.

India's attack seems to be related to the upcoming election. Politicians strutting and beating their chests (males at least - think silver-back) is part of the problem here.

Why is Jammu and Kashmir even one state? Why don't they give Jammu (Hindu majority) to India and Kashmir (Muslim majority) to Pakistan?

Both countries have nukes. Not sure how this will play out, but it seems a bit ominous.

Pakistan needs to step up their counter-terrorism, again, if India's claims are true.

Because people's religious identities does not matter: States have to be viable economically for the populations that live in them. India as a State is prosperous enough to have Kashmir as an integral part of the country. Pakistan would not have the economic clout to support more people as Kashmir is not agriculturally productive and Pakistan does not have the money to support those people.

Why are Pakistan and East Bengal even states? They should be part of a fully secular state of Bharat/India.

It would appear that they are held up as States by Islamic Countries with oil money to use in international politics of which way of life is best.
