Our lives are limited. In your limited life you will no more affect all the change you want than you will read all the books you want or see all the places you want. Sure one can make peace with such notions and be content with the miles and minutes one does get, but I am curious:

If you could affect five things in this world before you depart which five things would you choose? I am not asking for issues in which you could provide closure, just five areas for amelioration. So entries like "end world hunger" should be read, or even better written, as reduce hunger. If you must write broad entries, so be it; however, if you could be more specific that would be ideal.

Feel free to ask and discuss the issues people hold dear, but please do not insult or disrespect others issues. And please do not write passive aggressive issues. In other words if Sam really believes in reducing access to guns as an issue do not then, to spite Sam, decide you are going to write that you want to increase access to guns. If such is actually the case, fine. But, please give honest, thoughtful answers.

Lastly, while some might suffer from trying to narrow down their selection to five, others may struggle to think of that many. If you can only think of one or two, that is fine too. Please share.

    Thank you.

Here are some of my first thoughts:

    1. For people to not ration compassion - that is, in not seeing some more deserving of this than others.
    2. For religions to have far less influence or at least become much more moderate in many cases.
    3. For nationalism to become a thing of the past.
    4. For humanity to realise we have just the one Earth to live on (at the moment) and hence to treat it well, along with all other life here.
    5. To realise that we might become extinct if we don't grapple with the likely issues that might come from the above or from internal/external threats.

    Easy-peasy, no? :D

    Edited.

In order of importance to me (Two items tied for first place):

    1) Increase kindness in the world
    1) Increase intellectual honesty, intellectual discipline, and critical thinking.

    2) Ameliorate abuse of all kinds, including government oppression and partner abuse.

    3) Increase knowledge in terms both of how many people know something and what is known.

    4) Increase democratic forms of government.

    5) Dramatically increase @SalixIncendium's fashion sense.

Was just thinking of this in the past week or so:

Core values or what are the cornerstones of my life are

Freedom of expression (my art, communication, and me)
Freedom in general (light hearted and spirited)
Security in mind and mental health
Inner peace during life and at death

In order to make decisions based on creative values and be the cause and testimony to myself and others.

Help people with epilepsy and an advocate for good health. Continue to be an ally for the Deaf since I have Deaf friends and acquintances.

Mostly in the world, I want to see people have freedom to express their self in a healthy and collective manner. If I can be a part of that, that would be my work for the rest of my life.

Basically, in my limited time here, I know my art will be the drive that keep me sane. Always had fear Id end up in a psychatrict hospital. I know why now. I dont want to loose my freedom.

Nice thread. Wonder who else will comment

Shiva is unlimited, so nothing is outside of the scope of one who achieves Shivagama. The Universe is the expression of the divine and so greater realization of self-nature lends to greater control of self, environment and others.

    Short of that;

    1. Manifest to the highest spiritual ideal I can achieve.

    2. To promote, defend and support a wider, better concept of religion.

    3. To create as much quality art as I can, to live as a testament to my Bhakti.

    4. To erode the concept of good and evil, and destroy false morality.

    5. Work peacefully towards the end of ideologies which I consider harmful.

But ultimately, Satan before all else. I prioritize in line with my convictions.

I'd have freedom of movement - no more passports
I'd have equal access to education across the globe
    I'd dismantle all armies
    I'd ban guns
I'd make sure corporations pay a fair tax

Actually, I don't believe our lives are limited. During this passage though, it would be great if we could relieve the sometime pain of it. Jesus brought the wine. We don't drink it much, unfortunately.

Well, in the spirit of being ecocentric, it would involve a lot of things humans won't like:
    • The overarching goal is to halt the current sixth mass extinction:
      1. Fully recognize non-human entities as persons, or moral subjects
      2. Immediately cease the rampant campaigns of genocide against non-human persons
      3. Restore habitat for non-human persons and integrate habitat into anthropocentric landscapes
      4. Strictly regulate use and development of technology; follow appropriate technology philosophies
      5. Sharply reduce the human population worldwide
It won't ever happen. Which is why the legacy of humans in the geologic record is going to be an unprecedented climatic shift, a layer of trash, and a sixth mass extinction. *sigh*

Be that as it may, your time building castles in this earthly sandbox is still limited. By life, that is all I meant.

OK, you're an animal person. I haven't come to grips with that. Maybe someday. Meanwhile, a lot of animals are really tasty.

I'm closer to this in many ways than other beliefs, sad as it is. :(

You don't have to, because I'm not an animal person. It's interesting that you'd assume that from what I wrote.

Nah, it's fine. I'm just one of those weirdos who fully recognizes that humans are animals, thus when talking about non-human animals, you should say "non-human animals." Just saying "animals" also means "humans." To me, anyway.

In terms of biological interests, I'm much more of a "plant person." Plants are amazing. Many of them are tasty too. :D

I would only list things I have some personal control over.
    1. To increase my students' understanding of how society actually works, especially in terms of various inequalities, thereby reducing ignorance
    2. To show compassion to others, in that way reducing the "meanness" in the world
