Imam Mahdi a future Islamic leader: SUNNI VEIW

IMAM MAHDI

SUNNI VEIW

Introduction

Prophet Mohamed (prayers & peace upon him) had a lot of Prophecies many of them have already occurred proving his prophet-hood.

Before taking about Imam Mahdi who will appear in the future (& will have Dramatic impact in the word history)

I will give some examples of the prophecies which have occurred in the past after death of Prophet Mohamed (prayers & peace upon him).

1.Martyrdom of Imam Ali ibn Abi Talib (ra)

'Ali ibn Abi Talib (ra) , the fourth Rightly Guided Caliph, had also been informed by the Prophet of his assassination in such detail that he knew the man who was going to kill him, and identified him and pointed him out to the people. They asked 'Ali (ra) why he did not kill the man and he replied: "Then who will kill me?" The night preceding his assassination 'Ali (ra) had come out, and gazed at the sky and said: "By Allah he never told a lie, nor was a lie ever told to him." The next day the same man killed 'Ali, (ra) and his blood spilled down his beard, as the Prophet had described.

2. Between Imam Ali (ra) & Zubair (ra)

The Prophet saw 'Ali (ra) and Zubair (ra) one day laughing together, and he asked Ali (ra) if he loved Zubair. (ra) Ali (ra) replied: "How could I not love him since he is my nephew and co-religionist." The Prophet asked Zubair (ra) the same question, who gave a similar response. The Prophet then told Zubair (ra) that he would fight 'Ali (ra) , and that he would be the oppressor. So in the Battle of Jamal, when Ali (ra) and Zubair (ra) , in opposing camps came face to face. 'Ali (ra) reminded Zubair (ra) of the incident, and Zubair (ra) recalled, and said that he had forgotten, and he immediately left the battle field. So the battle took place as the Prophet had predicted, and Zubair (ra) was the oppressor, since Ali was the Rightful Caliph, and to oppose him with violence was wrong.

3. The barefooted competing in building & tall buildings

The barefooted bedouins competing in building tall buildings. Today we find in the Arabian Peninsula, the Arabs who used to be impoverished herders of camels and sheep, are competing in building the tallest tower blocks.

4. Mutiny against Caliph Uthmaan ibn Afan (ra)

In part of a long narration found in the two authoritative books of Hadith, the Prophet was sitting in a garden. 'Uthmaan ibn Afan (ra) walked in and the Prophet asked Abu Musa 'Ashari (ra) (the narrator) to inform him of the good news of paradise, and also that the people would mutiny against him. The Prophecy was fulfilled in that 'Uthmaan (ra) became the leader of the Muslims, and secondly some of the people rose against him and slew him.

5. The Muslims would conquer both Rome and Constantinople

The Prophet mentioned that the Muslims would conquer both Rome and Constantinople. He was asked which would fall first, and the Prophet said: "The city of Heraclius", i.e. Constantinople. Constantinople was taken by the Muslims in the fifteenth century. Rome still remains to be conquered, as it will be. So the order is correct, and rest still to be fulfilled. What is noteworthy about these statements of the Prophet is that they were made at a time when no one could imagine that a small city state, permanently under siege by the pagan Arabs, would reach such heights of power and strength, and that these predictions are not couched in some vague terminology open to various interpretations, like the Bible's Book of Revelation's "Beast of 666", and monsters with horns and little horns, or the meanderings of Nostradamus. The language is clear, their assertions direct, and often with specific names and dates.

Ahadith (prophet sayings {prayers & peace upon him}) about Imam Mahdi

Prophet Muhammad (prayers & peace upon him ) said: A section of my people will not cease fighting for the Truth and will prevail till the Day of Resurrection. He said: Jesus son of Mary would then descend and their (Muslims') commander (Imam Mahdi) would invite him to come and lead them in prayer, but he would say: No, some amongst you are commanders over some (amongst you). This is the honour from Allah for this Ummah.Sahih Muslim , Narrated by Jabir ibn Abd-Allah.
Imaam Mahdi will certainly come before the day of Qiyaamat [day of resurrection]. Rasulullah

Rasulullah

said, 'The Mahdi is one of us, from among the people of my household. In one night Allah will inspire him and prepare him to carry out his task successfully.' (Ahmad)
Abu Dawud devoted a whole chapter of his Sunan on the subject of the Mahdi.

said, 'Three men will be killed at the place where your treasure is. Each of them will be the son of a Khalifah and none of them will get hold of the treasure. Then the black banners will come out of the east, and they will slaughter you in a way which has never been seen before.' Then he said something which I do not remember, 'then if you see him, go and give him your allegiance, even if you have to crawl over ice because he is the Khalifah of Allah, the Mahdi.' (Ibn Majah) The treasure referred to in this text is the treasure of the Ka'bah. Towards the end of time, three of the sons of the Khalifahs will fight to get hold of it, until the Mahdi appears.
Abu Hurayra, Radi-Allahu anhu, narrates that Rasulullah

said, 'By him in whose hand my soul is, surely the son of Mary will come down among you as a just ruler. He will break the cross, kill the pigs and abolish the Jizyah. Wealth will be in such abundance that no one will care about it, and a single prostration in prayer will be better than the world and all that is in it.' Abu Hurayra said, 'If you wish recite the verse - and there is none of the people of the book but must believe in him before his death, and on the day of Qiyaamat he will be a witness against them.' (An-Nisaa 4:159) (Bukhari; Muslim). And Allah Ta'ala Knows Best.
