We found out today that one of our cats, Nutmeg, has cancer. I know, it is just a cat, but we love this cat. She is calico colored and has been losing weight lately. We took her to the vet and we found out she is sick.

if it makes you feel better i've had cats, dogs, cows, chickens, chicks, pigeons, rabits etc etc die before and didn't even worry about it. life goes on. just get a new cute small cat and forget about the sick one.
It's normal to miss what you love, and to feel empathy for a suffering entity. I would always cherish a life lost, even if I move on with mine. I would always miss a companion.
what can i say?
i'd feel the same way if i was to hurt or kill any living creature by accident, but those that die naturally don't really get to me, be it human or animal.
Well, that can be good I suppose. In a religious sense, nothing ever really dies. But even if that creature lives on elsewhere, its still normal for people to miss it
oh yeah everyone misses something every once in a while, but i'm not bothered all that much.
i mean look at christineES sad mood.
People are usually sad and bothered when someone or something they love must suffer. It's part of human nature; it's empathy.

if their presence makes you considerably happy, then definitely their death will hurt you. The understanding everything would die wont help you in that situation. Everything has positive and negative aspect, impossible to escape from its negative face after gaining its positive face.
I'm so sorry to hear that. Having to have my last dog put down a good 5-7 years before we should have had to was the worst experience of my life so far. They are not "just pets". They are little people.
lol little people with 4 legs.
