    Good and Evil are Illusions.

If two countries are at war.. The media on one side portrays the other as evil and wrong doing.
...And the opposing countries media shows the former as evil and wrong doing.

    So, what's good? What's evil?

    Isn't it strictly perception?

There's no ultimate world judge so who is to say? Shouldn't we all embrace our own light and darkness?

Evil is real but subjective and personal. Doing wrong when everything in you is telling you it is wrong is evil. You are your own ultimate judge.

So is the child that is raped then murdered, a villain in the eyes of the pedo?

Does the pedo think himself a hero?

This mind set of good and evil being an illusion is very naive imo.

How am I to know what's evil if nothing to base on? I just have thoughts. A lot of serial killers don't think what they are doing is wrong so they are their own judge yet murder is considered bad by most. So how can that work?

A group of pedophiles wouldnt say it was bad.. Everyone else will, but its justifiable in their head bc they are a product of their social environment just like we all are. So is it their fault they think that way? Who's fault for thinking the way you do? Do you get to choose the thoughts that come in your head? Or is it a recycling of experience?

To me is naive to say I was told one thing is bad and another is good so ill believe what I was told.

You can't control your beliefs. You can perceive whether your beliefs are rational, and control how you act in response to them.

Good and evil are moral labels humans put on behaviors or people as a social species since we are interdependent on one another to survive and thrive. If we agree on that as a goal, then we definitely cannot just do whatever we feel like no matter who it harms.

If you don't agree on that as a goal, then you're just arbitrarily using the words good and evil differently - like arbitrarily deciding you're going to call cats dogs. I don't necessarily care, until your idiosyncrasy interferes with my life or the lives of others - in which case your life is unlikely to be pleasant for long, because we won't tolerate it.

I don’t fault them for being that way. It’s how they were programmed to be, coupled with external programmings.

Still doesn’t mean an act isn’t evil, even if it’s not their fault due to how they were programmed to be. There are also people who are aware that what they may be doing is wrong/bad yet will do it anyway because that’s how they are programmed to be. In their nature to.

I also agree that it’s naive to conform to the common perceptions as to what is good and what is evil. I know for with my internal compass, a lot of things that everyone else thinks are good are evil to me and vice versa. (Outside of the easy and common sense things.) Upside down world. Things are painted a certain way yet are very deceptive.

For me, it is good not to fault them. While it would be evil to condemn them. While also judging the act as evil.

Most do have a compass, conscience, faculty of awareness that gradually develops in them.

many moons ago.....I got it this way

good and bad refer to the condition of a thing
correct and incorrect….the answers to questions
right and wrong to the discussions of morals
good and evil to the nature of spirit

I would suppose...…….spirit is a blend of the two
    and if you be good?
it's that gesture you prefer to do ….first

Good is what is convenient to the person and Evil is what is not convenient to the person. This works on any level.

I agree with what you have said and thats kinda how I look at it and think. I to see something like this as evil but thats only a basis of my own compass. Just because I think its evil I don't know how to justify it as such with the label because I have nothing to base anything. At the end of the day, I know nothing.

You just know. Serial killers that don't know they are doing wrong are not evil just mentally ill. There are times when your brain/mind and heart keep telling you do not do this and yet you override that and do it, you do it against your own code. You are plagued the rest of your life by your own conscience for doing it.

If you don't know what I am saying then perhaps you have never done true evil in your life. Its not like everyone has been evil, most people live and obey their own code for life.

"You just know" isn't a valid answer. To claim that you are sensible and people to think another way are assumed mentally ill seems kinda lazy. You don't know how they think. Sure, some may have the thought its bad and want to do it anyway where as others genuinely think its acceptable and will never suffer plague of negative haggling thought you describe. Just because I don't agree with what you are saying doesn't mean I don't understand it. I have done my fair share of good and evil as we all have. Never claim to know what others are thinking, its absurd.

Ive been conditioned and trained to think certain ways: label, have preconceived perceptions, follow the general hive mentality when it comes to good and evil. Used what little volition and power in me to renounce, de-learn, stop judging and I’d like to say that volition and power grew into a deeper judgement.

No one asked to exist, have shoddy programming/nature, have options to murder, rape, an array of other internal and external conditions, etc. Anyone that does have a somewhat functioning compass, could be wise to use what little volition and power we may have to fight certain things.

Kind of like being a marionette, and realizing that, and wanting to change/alter some things within one’s volition and power.

If your significant other or child is walking the dog and someone runs them over with a car because they "wanted to see what it was like to kill someone" what would your response be?

That's irrelevant. My actions don't justify any form or human behavior or thought. Because I would do this or that doesn't mean it's correct or incorrect.

It is completely relevant and it is less abstract and more personal as it should be. It is one thing to say or talk about everyone embracing their own light and darkness but it is much different if someone else's darkness affects one personally in reality isn't it?

You have the black sulfur symbol in your avatar yet vengeance and self preservation doesn't come to mind? You also use Crowleys quote, what is your favourite Crowley book?
