The lesson is recorded for the benefit of those who follow. All the things recorded in scripture have teaching value.

BTW he was not a kid. He was a young man in his twenties. He was way stronger than his aged father and could easily have resisted him...but he didn't. The lesson is powerful in so many ways...but lost on unbelievers. C'est la vie....

A bit like Pinocchio, isnt’it? All those stories, especially the popular ones, have always some lessons in the narrative.
