Ah, yes. The "every man is a nation unto himself" defense.
I don't see anything beyond that as needed in this context.
Most patrons of strip clubs understand sex is not on offer.

Ah, yes. The "every man is a nation unto himself" defense.
Well, the original; discussion was about prostitution, not strip dancing. And this thread was just some silly questionnaire about expecting the dancers to have sex with the patrons, which of course does happen, even though they all proclaim loudly and profusely that it doesn't. At least not WHILE their dancing, anyway.
Trust me. No one suffers at all.Yeah, it's always nice to enjoy the suffering of others.
That will probably go back to 40s standards before long.Maybe I'm spoiled, but if I want to see scantily clad or nude people, I'd go to the beach.
When you play with animals, you very likely will end up with their fleas.
Nope. The "if it doesn't hurt somebody else and all participants are consenting (and able to consent) the state shouldn't regulate it" principle.Ah, yes. The "every man is a nation unto himself" defense.
A lot like going to a casino ... another place that just wants your money, and pretends it'll give you something that it won't.
And yet many of them do also engage in prostitution, though they claim not to if it's illegal.
Why anyone would find all this "entertaining" is a bit difficult to comprehend.
Nope. Strip clubs give exactly what they claim: scantily clad woman dancing on a pole and flirting with you.
If you take it as more than that, you are likely to get asked to leave.
"According to various research studies, conducted in an international level and based on a detailed selection of quantitative and qualitative data-including interviews of women involved in drugs and sex work- , there seems to be a clear interdependence between sex work and drugs."
- The real link between drug use and sex work
- The Vicious Cycle of Addiction and Prostitution - Addiction Helpline
Abstract said:Ethnographic field research has provided important qualitative data on the relation between drugs and consensual crimes, such as drug dealing and prostitution. Dealers often share background characteristics with their clients. Drug use varies from none to daily among dealers, but the proportion of dealers who use the drugs they sell is difficult to assess. Drug-dealing organization varies greatly in its structural complexity; acceptance into dealing groups often depends on situational factors, familiarity, and financial resources. Research findings indicate that more than half of street prostitutes are drug users. Prostitutes who are heavy drug users often engage in crime to help support their habit.
The only time I've seen stripping in person was at a gay bar and you can do pretty much whatever you please with those guys. "No touching" wasn't a thing. And, yeah - I wanted sex that night.
I've frequented strip clubs and have found some to be enjoyable while others I leave after five minutes. Some require you to buy a drink (overpriced, watered down).
But yes, I enjoy watching nude or mostly nude women dancing if they seem to be enjoying themselves, as opposed to being bored and doing the 'required' moves. I expect to tip for every song when someone is on the pole that I am watching.
I also enjoy casual flirting with the women after their routines, maybe having a lap dance (depends on how pushy they are for such).
I was enough of a regular at some clubs that I got to know the women and chatted with them frequently. I certainly had ones I preferred and I was more likely to request lap dances from those I liked.
Also, my wife and I would often go together. She loved talking with the women and teasing me or buying me lap dances. I have stories.
But sex? Never. Not on the agenda. And certainly not sex for pay.
No. I hadn't been there before.Relevant to the purpose of the poll though, it sounds like you knew the type of establishment, so this data point has an asterisk on it.
I can see it's a complex relationship between sex work and drugs but it seems to me your experience has not been the norm (at least compared to the UK).
night night
No. I hadn't been there before.
I think most guys would be like "I don't expect it, but I sure hope so!"
Never been to a strip club though and not interested in it either. Sounds a bit too sleazy for me.
The idea of paying for sex or to see naked flesh doesn't really strike me as money well spend.
Although I can certainly imagine situations where I might think differently.
It was just a night out to a gay bar. I was open to things to begin with, I think.Did you expect to have sex before you walked in, or did you see laxness and get the idea?
