Why would a Saudi prince have a dozen palaces while the common folk live in squalor?

For that matter why are most muslim countries still "third world" and among the most corrupt unto their own subjects?

Not that I presume a "christian" nation to be any more "christian" in their actual politics.

If God provide much bounty for a prince or king, should not they then pay alms of this bounty to the poor?
