I don't have any reason to believe a god exists or to recognise the Bible as a truth source.
I am an atheist I don't say a god doesnt exist I just don't have enough sufficient evidence to believe that he does. I can't prove that the flying spaghetti monster or that pixies and fairies don't exist either but do I have any reason whatsoever to believe they do? No I do not and it's the same with the god claim.First of all, a person would have to prove that God doesn't exist or exist.
Where's the proof. No one has died for a long period of time and came back to give proof.
Of course there are those who will say, when you die, You die nothing more.
But the question is, As for those people how do you this for sure, When in fact no one has died for a period of time like two weeks or a year, and came back to give witness.
So we have nothing of any proof.
The only thing a person does have, is when they die and cross over into the Unknown.
But no one has come back to give witness. We have what people call near death experience. But nothing of a person being dead for two or more weeks or a year that has come back?
So the Unknown stands there.without any proof of what lays on the other side.
Let's for say, that after a person dies and cross over into the Unknown and there is no God, Ok so they haven't lost nothing.
Now let's for say, that after a person dies and cross over into the Unknown and find there is God. Now they lost everything.
Because they denied God in their life time, Now God has every right to deny them.
All a person is doing is playing Russian roulette with their life.
What's your chances of flipping a coin 1time or 2 times or 3 times and having it come up heads every time?
Not very good.
As an atheist I think this is highly unlikely but for this thought experiment, let's assume that a god has revealed themselves to the world.
Now would you worship it?
I couldn't bring myself to do so; I'd be happy to say thanks for what I have but regularly get on my knees and give thanks, NO!
Thoughts.

We have VERY good reasons to believe that once you die you lose all consciousness and no longer exist. Do we know this as an absolute certainty? No, but we have reached a point in our understanding of neurology now where we can demonstrate that the mind and the brain are the same thing. If you receive a head injury and it causes sufficient damage to your brain in certain areas your personality will change. We can actually detect thoughts as they happen in the brain using neuroimaging devices. We also have examples of people having the nerves connecting the left and the right hemispheres of the brain severed and it creating essentially two different people in one skull. You end up with one person who identifies as an atheist and the other who identifies as a Christian for example. When they die which one of the two people go to heaven? Does the new atheist person go to hell? Your brain is a biological computer compromised of 100 billion neurons all working to form your thoughts, memories, emotions, personality and every other aspect of your life. We have absolutely no reason at all to believe that consciousness exists independently of the brain.
What you're talking about regarding the risk taking nature of being an atheist is called Pascal's wager.

Have a read of that and see what is wrong with that way of thinking.

To me 'free will' gives us pause to reflect that God exists and a good reason to freely worship HIM.
I believe it wouldn't really be worship if all we were doing was parroting words that were given to us.
