The Sabbath-Breaker Put to Death
32 While the Israelites were in the wilderness, a man was found gathering wood on the Sabbath day. 33 Those who found him gathering wood brought him to Moses and Aaron and the whole assembly, 34 and they kept him in custody, because it was not clear what should be done to him.35 Then the Lord said to Moses, “The man must die. The whole assembly must stone him outside the camp.” 36 So the assembly took him outside the camp and stoned him to death, as the Lordcommanded Moses.

And Apostates? The Scripture(Torah, i avoid that insultive word "OT") tells us to behead/execute apostates.

I hope those backward thinking days have gone.
If only they were. :(

You actually think people still should consider ancient mythology and theology as credible punishment?

or is this just another weak attack on others faith due to literalism?

Until messianic days, it doesn't matter who rules Israel, as there is no proper court which can carry forth biblical commandments on a capital level. So, "no."

Seriously. Do you think a God who created the universe would give any thought at all to someone picking up sticks on a certain day of the week, much less demanding that His people take rocks and crush his skull? What kind of person could do such a thing and think he was doing it for a righteous God?

It would have to be someone who is terrified of this monster in the sky, of course God is not like that.

Im just fed up with the frame of thought that unfortunately is still around today, that God has a need for people to kill in His name. This is sickening. Ancient history does not apply to today in this sense.

Modern day Israel is not currently a theocracy. If it were and if the children of Israel were still under the covenants they made with God under Moses and up until the time when they asked Samuel for a king... then such a law might still be in force. As it is, since Israel broke their covenant with God, making it of none effect, they are and have been left to themselves; which is why they have been dispersed around the world and are only now beginning to be restored.

When the Messiah comes a new and everlasting covenant will be established.

What is sad is we have enough information and knowledge over the past few thousand years, to not KEEP making ancient mens mistakes.

Unfortunately not everyone can learn or even has an open enough mind to try and get a long with their fellow human beings.

OP this is just sad.

No, "devout Jews" would not be permitted to kill Sabbath breakers or any other Law breakers. The court system necessary for killing Law breakers is impossible to establish without the Messiah's aid and by then there would be no Law breakers.

But what would happen if I was there, and I wanted to do some work in my garden on the Sabbath ?.

Then you can do whatever you like. Non-Jews are not allowed to keep Sabbath by Jewish Law. And even if you happened to be Jewish, again, we're not allowed to kill anyone...

And what if jew breaks law(sabath/apostasy) under Messiah rule?
Will he be killed?
