Bicycle speed wobbles: How they start and how to stop them
Well I discovered that reducing the weight (front and rear panniers) cured my (serious) shimmy problem (whilst touring abroad), and I suspect it was caused initially by the head angle being too steep - after a repair - since on other bikes I have never had this issue, and noticed that most other bikes were quite easy to ride 'hands off', when it was quite difficult to do so on mine. Oh, and I had the same problem, but at rather higher speed on a motorbike I once owned, when a test ride on another (at a rather naughty speed) showed that a bike could be quite stable at even higher speeds. Stability - very comforting.
Anyone else had this problem - with whatever?
