I need help forming opinions on various topics, and I was just wondering if RF was the place to go for that. In particular, I would like to be guided politically... Do you think anyone migh4 have opinions to share, to help steer me in the right direction?

P.S. I'm not really interested in learning things, I just need to know what to think about stuff.

I always catch the crosstalk and other forums and listening to the radio, television etc. Or just go to the sports bar.

Opinions come up naturally, in my opinion. Heh. See how easy it is?

Don't bother me with facts because someone else told me what to think????

In that case, think what I think. No explanations necessary because you might learn something?

Read a lot. Watch a lot of videos. But most importantly, to form your own opinion, write about what it is your are learning about. It's only through the act of writing do we ever truly know who we are and what we believe. And finally, if you want to become the master of any subject then teach it. Teaching carves knowledge into the stone of your mind.

I’m not quite sure if I understand.
How can you form an opinion about something, if you haven’t already learnt about that thing? o_O

Is there a particular subject or are you asking for opinions about forming opinions in general? :D

Alright, this is how I view the world.

It's basically layer upon layer of lies. They present you with false choices and stupid
"moral dilemmas" to manipulate you into thinking how they want you to think. If they told you the truth then they'd be doomed. So they don't do something so stupid. That's why you can't ever learn the truth from the world or it's man made organizations. The fact is the world is full of broken people and you have to view everyone as in just various degrees and stages of utter brokenness. Entrapped or ensnared in various ways.

    Isaiah 42:22
But this is a people robbed and plundered,
they are all of them trapped in holes
    and hidden in prisons;
they have become a prey with none to rescue,
a spoil with none to say, “Restore!”

So never stop loving people even when you know they're wrong or you disagree with them. Or even if they are evil.

You're all just trapped and victims of the ruling authorities of this planet. I mean non-human entities that control the planet. And this world is a giant concentration camp designed to beat you down and crush your spirit and finally kill you and that's all it is. You're all being destroyed on a spiritual level. Our own minds and bodies fight against anything that is good. They make good painful and evil easy.

They hide the truth in plain sight and make sure no one comes to the right conclusions. Therefore if anyone has the truth then they got it from God alone.

Hi mate, sorry, wasn't sure exactly what you meant, so apologies if this misses the mark.

You have to learn things. People's opinion on EVERY topic spans from the most extreme option on one side all the way through to the most extreme option on the other.

Ignore learning and you become a shill for whomever is the most charismatic or has the most 'likes'.

It's not the easiest path, but it's the one which is required, imho.

Every argument has counterarguments, and its best imo to consider the ends of each, and perhaps the obstacles to an arguments success is worth serious consideration. The reality vs. The ideal comparisons come to mind. And is even the right argument, and conversation out there existing.

For example, imo, socialism takes on ideals that require great willingness, and great discipline to make succeed. Much of it is pie in the sky utopian. Conservatism seems to see only the hard realities of human nature and seeks a hands off approach to government, and uses the iron handed 'peace through strength' ideal to accomplish its ends. So what happens to me is i seek to strike a balance between the extremes. And as far as solutions goes are we looking at GCD's or LCD's in trying to resolve any issue.

Absolute power corrupts absolutely for those who seek power over principle imo. And we see that in both socialism, and conservatism. But both sides can do important things if they find the right balance, right people and work together. And both sides can cause great harm to the people as a whole. With conservatism, there is war, and oligarchies of meritocracy. With socialism there is wastefulness, and government bloatedness, where the government starts owning things it cant faithfully support, and economy crippling regulations. So i keep thinking there is a third option to all they do. And generation after generation there is much building up and tearing down; and thats just the Constitution doing its dirty job of handling corruption year after year.

I detect mischief, but I have one useful piece of advice.
Know that opinions & preferences are not The Truth.

This is a vague request, need more. . . think about what stuff???

My only recommendation is try to base your decisions on a factual foundation with as little of personal bias as possible. .

I thought the same, but at this point I struggle to be sure. My sense of humour seems slightly different other folks.

Yours commonly makes sense to me, which generally makes me feel vaguely violated.
