I like Bill Clinton even though he was a womaniser. Why? Because he balanced the budget and oversaw peace between Israel and Jordan, and Israel and the PLO.

I never considered paying tax an Imposition, even the year i paid 4 million, I'd earned it, tax keeps the country running, so i paid it. Funny how it's always the right who slag off the left yet are the biggest tax cheats .

It doesn't surprise me though that the US is so deep into debt, if everybody avoids paying taxes as you claim.

JFK is not someone I hold in high esteem. And I think you're overcooking it if you think he ended segregation.

I'd be more than happy to deep dive on him, but it would be a separate thread.

Clinton I have more mixed feelings about.

Labour (Britain's left wing party) had a budget surplus in 2001 and turned it into a deficit during an economic boom. Even bigger deficit by the time the 2009 recession came.

It's only because of the Tories the deficit was decreasing because they reigned in the spending.

John Major and the Labour Party both considered my family 'rich' and we had to pay tax on both our business and personal income; on top of that there's inheritance tax.

It was better during the Thatcher years

Thatcher was the one who destroyed our industries, in favour of the city get rich kids.
She financed it all from the North sea oil and gas bonanza.
And the sale of the family silver.
By the time she was chucked out by her own party it was all gone.

(liberal) who didn't pay his payroll taxes would often
lecture me about the "social contract" that we must
honor.
They take our tax money, & micturate it away.
They spend it on useless wars, & lifestyles of the rich
& famous for politicians. Services....I see little of those.
The IRS....it assaults us. I've been audited for many
years, even though they find nothing. Oh, the process
isn't free either. I see good reason to deny them as
much as possible.
