I have heard that every night when we go to sleep our spirit leaves our bodies. If that is true why haven't we picked that up on sleeping people with a Cat Scan or MRI yet?:)

Because Cat Scans and MRIs only pick up physical plane activity. Physical devices can not pick up spiritual activity as those things occur in dimensions outside of our familiar three dimensions.

Firstly, the idea of a spirit, soul, is not supported by science. MRI and Catscans have been extensively during sleep. Brain does not stop working during sleep. Why don't you search for things on internet, it is so easy. Some study of science will not harm your religious thoughts.
