I adopted a female pit bull from the pound for only $18 yesterday. I used to have a Golden Retriever but things happened and I don't have him anymore. So I decided that the best thing to do would be to start over in this regard. The bonus was saving a life. She's very affectionate and has come to cling to ne quickly. She loves hugs, kisses and belly rubs. She's about 2 years old and her name is Thrace.

THat sounds so sweet. Thrace! Give pooch a hug for me. :) And yes, thanks for picking a shelter critter. Their lives depend on it.

A dear friend brought her new baby over to my island paradise to meet me just after my surgery.
It was probably the cutest pup I've seen and looked a lot like this. An American Mastif

At three months old.... it has paws on it bigger than I've seen on a dog before.

@Saint Frankenstein Awww, that's such a cute dog. Unfortunately even though I tend to like a few Pitbulls I find it risky to own one if it had a good or bad past. Out of curiosity when you mentioned some things happening to your Golden Retirever, did he became sick?

We have had two rescue dogs. Had the first one, a golden, for 12 years, still on our second, a golden and border collie mix. The rescue operations are amazing with volunteer relay drivers moving rescue dogs cross country, even borders. In order to acquire a rescue dog one must pass a house and yard inspection.

Why do you find it risky? The shelter here lets you know if the dog isn't good with other dogs, cats, children, etc. and they wouldn't be on the adoption floor if they were aggressive toward humans.

As for my Golden, the person who was supposed to take care of him for me got rid of him without my consent or telling me. I suspect they sold him and lied to me about giving him to a shelter since the shelter they said they gave him to doesn't know anything about a dog fitting his description. Either way, I have to let it go. I'll never see him again.

I am no expert in Pitbulls myself but I occasionally hear some news that some people get attacked by them. I guess it just depends the way the dog is trained.
