And no Socialist Democrat is ever mentioned. Hmmm.......

Maybe they are all Angels. Pure as the drivin snow.

Ironic you'd say that because you've pretended that republicans are incapable of being unethical, immoral, unlawful, etc.
That or it doesn't matter when they are because the party comes first.

There is some room for cynicism as there is self-interest at work in being a socialist. Its more about ego though.

There is something in the collectivistic way of thinking that means the pursuit of power overcomes the sense of mortality. You’re part of something bigger and greater than just your own individual self. A movement, a state, a nation, a chapter in history.

If you’re a socialist, chances are your version of self-interest doesn’t mean making huge amounts of money. But buried deep inside the psyche, its more likely you want lots of statues and monuments being build in your honour after your gone. The kind of thing that school kids will walk past on a field trip that says “I was here and I mattered” even if the kids can’t remember your name. Maybe you’ll settle for a plaque or being written about in a history textbook.

You work towards giving people free healthcare or do things that might actually benefit others because you quietly hope that you have a legacy that lives on even when your dead and buried.

Frank Underwood sort of nailed it.
