How to Overthrow the US Government. By Marxist.org. 1980

Openly communist parties get next to no votes in any elections for noteworthy positions of power in the US, and the more popular socialists like Bernie Sanders and AOC have worked within the current system for years (decades, in Sanders' case) without attempting to overthrow it.

American conservative politicians and political commentators who raise communism as any sort of real threat within domestic American politics are tilting at windmills while a conservative elephant is in the room and running amok all over it.

What about the left wing?
What about it? The endless "Whataboutism's" are exhausting and unproductive, and do not hide the active harm that Conservative Christofascists are doing. It is fear mongering, and the most that the Right seems to do in answer to it is point wildly to fantasies of Libs saying you can't eat meat or telling you what gender you have to be.

It's not the right wing that wrote this article/statement.

Just pointing out the intentions of the left wing are just as valid and revelant as fears from the right wing are.

It Aint Necessarily So

People accused the right wing.

More than that. They got caught on film, and now many have been prosecuted and many more will be prosecuted for that failed coup attempt.

What about the left wing?

They're the ones investigating and prosecuting the right wing for attempting to violently overthrow the government.

I don't believe that's entirely true. I'm quite sure there is an element of intent for a left wing takeover at some point. Just more subtitle and incremental.

Maybe someday you will learn the difference between a coup attempt and an insurrection.

What specifically do you find spooky?

seems very dated to me.
The fact that open socialists are not just running for office, they are getting elected now.

True it's dated and extremely long. But takeovers don't happen in a day. The planning and implementation can take decades for a successful takeover.

Capitalism Destablized – How Do We Prepare To Overthrow the U.S. Government

Pretty spooky.

Notice the parallels to what is going on today?

People accused the right wing.

What about the left wing?
There isn't one. The right is so far to the right that the left is basically center and even right-center. Almost no one in the U. S. is any more "left" than a moderate capitalist. What you call "socialist" is just a moderate capitalist. That is someone that agrees with capitalism but that it must be limited and restrained for the sake of our social well being.

The US government has never been in any serious danger of overthrow by any leftist faction.

In fact, the only way leftists have gained any power at all in any place in the world was because the established bourgeois capitalist governments collapsed on their own, through gross mismanagement in domestic affairs and wanton incompetence in military/foreign affairs.

In that sense, it's not really a matter of why the left is so scary or spooky, but why are capitalists so incompetent and greedy as to set themselves up to be overthrown?

I think its just propaganda to convince people of that.

I don't buy the 'moderate capitalist' claim.

"People say the right-wing wants to overthrow the government just because there was an attempt by thousands of right-wingers, with the implicit support of the head of this country's most prominent right-wing political party and former head of state, to actively prevent the ratification of the democratically elected head of the state, and a concerted effort by prominent voices in this country's leading right-wing political party to downplay or de-legitimise the democratic process when it does not go in their favour in order to subvert democracy as they burn books and scaremonger about the left while embracing open nationalism and dine with literal fascists.

BUT LOOK AT WHAT THIS SMALL GROUP WROTE IN A BOOK OVER FORTY YEARS AGO!

Clearly they're the real threat, right???!"

And I would like to take this moment to remind everyone in this thread of Twilight Hue's unimpeachable philosophy: that doesn't matter what people say; they can literally say anything, it's only if they DO something bad that it's bad. So, therefore, he clearly must have no issue with this document whatsoever.

How to overthrow any Government: the army must side with the people against the élites.

As the French Revolution shows.

It is an especially ironic charge considering that for the better part of the last century, capitalist regimes have gone to great lengths to subvert, overthrow, and sometimes invade their socialist and communist counterparts. Capitalist countries attempted to invade Cuba, invaded Vietnam, and tried to overthrow socialist or communist regimes in Cuba, Venezuela, and the USSR—not out of concern for human rights but for geopolitical gain.

Capitalist regimes have always made enemies out of socialist and communist ones before turning around and pretending to be the victim when they are called out on their subversive interventionism and desire for hegemony.

We have had a sort of assault to the Palace of Government, recently, by an angry mob.
Nobody shot anybody, though.

Or get elected.

A much longer route for a goverment takeover through attrition.

I can speak for my own country. If my people gets wild, the army will not surely side with the élites residing in those luxurious palaces.
Those élites are unarmed, because we have no second amendment.
So they can't even defend themselves.

I think that if there is a Government that imposes something onto its citizens (like "you must remain in the EU" or similar), the people will rise against the Government, sooner or later.
