How much are we obligated to the world at large, devotionally?

Viraja

Jaya Jagannatha!
Our immediate answer would be 'very much'.

But do we really think we owe to the world at large, devotionally?

The goal of existence is attuned to betterment of the human race. Scientifically speaking, we are a Type I civilization and our goal, as a unified whole, is to emerge gradually through Type II, III and ultimately Type IV, who are a civilization that can harness the power from galactic resources for survival and betterment.

Not really into scientific chat in these forums, but wouldn't that scientific goal naturally imply, that our karma is to transcend the twin-fold evil that plagues the human race, which are vis-a-vis Poverty and Illiteracy.

Many of us do not have time to donate regularly towards causing such a betterment. In addition, our resources are limited. All we have means for, is probably perhaps, praying for our own betterment since life happens to be a struggle to a good many of us.

But when we look around, there are saddened faces everywhere. They look much more sad than our own.

Therefore, I ask, how much do we owe devotionally to the world at large? To who do we owe, how much do we owe, and how do we meet with that end? (Spiritually, devotionally).

In plain language, how do we help them through our devotion?
