How does one claim Buddha is a manifestation with one breath and then deny his teachings are valid?

I am speaking of Baha'is of course. Baha'is claim to accept that Buddha is a manifestation of God in their religion, yet they say the Buddha's message has been perverted beyond recognition, but don't apply the same view to Christianity and Judaism that history proves has evolved and changed just as much. How can Baha'is claim this? If Buddha was a manifestation of God, surely God would vouchsafe and preserve his teachings?
