How do we achieve peace between nations?

celebrate each others successes
mourn for each others fallen
acknowledge our own failures
forgive the failures of others
teach our children to be sensitive and emotionally aware
share resources and information
never give up on peace

How do we achieve peace between nations?

Two things come to mind.

When we say we don't want war we must mean it... we must be real pacifists.

We must earn our living without taking from other nations greedily.
US have two borders with Canada and Mexico. Suppose, income of average Mexican would be the same as a Canadian?

What? Me worry?
shouldn't this be in the "jokes" section...unless, of course, there's a "fantasy" section...

Wealth is not the product of stealing from others. Wealth is created through enlightened self interest in action.

Peace is not achieved through pacifism. It is created through the pursuit of Justice. “Justice, Justice shall you pursue.” That includes the Justice of property ownership.

Ban war as a means of political (or commercial) conduct.
How to achieve that?
Vote only for politicians who don't think that war is a legitimate tool in the shed.
Don't participate in war.
Don't support those who benefit from war.
Tell everybody who listens that war is not a nice thing, why it's not and how to avoid it.

Not by political movements, nor by and Human Affairs - It required a change of heart, the acceptance we are One Humanity.

Not voting for Hillary or her minions would be a good start.
I mean...even Democrat Tulsi Gabbard ( professional of the Military) said she is a warmonger

Our 2 countries do state this by constitution....the wicked former Axis...

German Constitution: Those acts which are apt to (and have the purpose to) compromise the peaceful coexistence of peoples, specifically to put a military attack into action, are against the Constitution. They will be punished.

Italian Constitution:Italy repudiates war as an instrument of aggression against the other peoples' freedoms; and as a means of solving international disputes.

Absolute peace only comes after one side of the conflict is beat or destroyed. So, that being said... I'm OK with a few bumps in the road.

As far as "taking" from others every resource you consume denies its use to someone else. There is really no way to avoid that, so no point. At a national scale, of course, some nations are going to be more clever, productive, or just straight sneaky and get an edge. The only way to deal with that problem is to up your game really.

To avoid war, pacifism is needed as you mention, but we also would need nations to understand that if we experience a neighbor country who struggles we would gain from helping them, instead of starting a war to crush them. Unfortunately, our society is built on war and the destruction of others. and in my understanding, this comes from greedy and selfish leaders who have no interest in helping others but expect to gain help when themself need it.

And:
- we must make the effort to put ourselves in the shoes of other countries, to see how things may look to them, never mind how different from our own view,

- we must find ways to allow opponents to retreat from aggressive positions while maintaining their self-respect. As the negotiating courses say, always give the other side a ladder to climb down.

Learn how by achieving peace on the RF. If you could get the RF completely peaceful then just copy the format and done.

Its pretty peaceful right now but not completely.

We have rules
We have moderators to enforce rules
We have dir's for sensitive people

You would need similar rules
You would need moderators to enforce those rules
You would need dir countries for sensitive people

One thing that should be noted is that there is a high number of nations. The more nations there are, the greater the odds that one or more of them will have a dispute which leads to war.

It might be easier to maintain world peace and order if there were only a few large superpowers, with no small fry to complicate things.

The prevailing notion nowadays is that every nationality, however small, should have their own separate, sovereign territory which should be considered sacrosanct. This is a nationalistic ideal, and nationalism (along with its offshoots, tribalism and racism) often seems a leading factor in causing a lot of these wars.

Of course, I'm not negating the economic factors, and the vast disparities between the haves and have nots also remain as causes of wars, revolutions, and dissent.

Also, it's not really so much a question of peace "between nations," since that's only one part of the equation. Much of what we see nowadays is war and/or insurrection within nations. That seems to happen more than wars between nations.
