Why do you speak of "The Jews" as if we are all carbon copies of each other? Some Jews blaspheme. Some don't. Is this thread going to be one of those "bash the Jews" threads?

Because I'm talking in a general sense. I'm not interested at this point so much in how many of the Jews, which of the Jews or when the Jews. No, I don't need to bash anyone. Just I have heard that Jews have been accused of blasphemy, but I haven't found any concrete examples. Figured someone might know some.

I don't know what you're referring to in your OP, but

    "Why are 'The Muslims' terrorists?"
    You hear the problem?

I think called Jesus the Son of God was a form of blasphemy to Jews.

    From whose point of view?
So...early followers of Christ were Jews. You could judge them blasphemers in the eyes of other Jews. You could judge other Jews blasphemers in the eyes of early Christians

In time, rabbinical schools communicated and drove orthodoxy across Judaism. There was more variance and localisation of belief earlier. Not too dissimilar to Christianity in that sense, albeit with different causation.

So, you'd at least need to pick a time period, or a viewpoint, in order to get much detail in the answers.

I don't know of any (as a Christian).

Probably accusing Jews is a blasphemy in and of itself?

But I mean the Jews. How did they blaspheme? Am I saying it right?

To be in line with my question that'd have to be "how did the Muslims commit to acts of terrorism" and I see no problem whatsoever with that.

For the first 1900 years of Christian history, Jews were accused of deicide (since Jesus "is God" and "the Jews killed Jesus.") The Christian church taught that Jews were cursed because of this -- after all what sin could possibly be greater than killing God himself?

However, a change swept the Christian world after the holocaust. Christians began saying that humanity was responsible for Jesus' death, that all sinners, themselves included, were responsible for the crucifixion. The old entrenched anti-Semitic theologies of the Jews being a cursed people doomed to wander the earth were simply let go -- especially after Israel became a nation state again.

I've never in real life run into a Christian that called me a "Christ Killer," or any of the old stuff. Such people do exist online -- strange, marginalized people know they have a captive audience in chat rooms and forums. But they are certainly not typical of your Christian today.

You do still have your fundamentalist sorts that will throw out emotionally laden words like blasphemy and "rejecting God" when discussing the fact that we Jews in general simply don't buy into the notion that Jesus was the messiah. But again, I find these online. I don't know any among my Christian acquaintances in real life.

I think it is good to say what you think about the evil Biblical god, the holy spook and that guy Jesus, even if it isn't to their credit.

It is also good to do it in a respectful way. Something you should think about.

True enough. More true is to say that calling Jesus God the Son is considered blasphemous and idolatrous to us.

I have nothing respectful to say about the evil Bible god, and will say what I think about it.

    Wikipedia definition of blasphemy:

Blasphemy is the act of insulting or showing contempt or lack of reverence to a deity, or sacred objects, or toward something considered sacred or inviolable.

Classic examples of blasphemy in Judaism in no particular order:

    Idol Worship
    Spreading Rumors
    Desecrating the Holy Names
Claiming to be the Jewish Messiah

There are others I'm sure. Any transgression, in a way, could be labled blasphemy. But whether or not it is committed knowingly, in my opinion, is an important distinction to make.

If you can't be nice to people who are here, you have no business being here. Save your trolling for some cesspool chatroom where no one cares how obnoxious you are. As for me, I care how people treat each other. I'm not a Christian, I do not believe in the Christian Jesus Trinity God. It is offensive to me. But I don't use that as an excuse to crap all over Christians in this forum. I hope that will set a good example for you. Stay but play nice.

The holy spook is new to me. That's definitely a good one, though.

We ate our pizza with a fork.
The year was 419, CE and all the Jews sat around for a nice late lunch. Wednesday it was, a day much like today, only sans the indoor plumbing and with a dollop more of antiquity. Steve* brought out soda and started pouring while Herve* carried in a couple of pies. Mostly plain but he had the foresight to get a half-olive/half pineapple. We are a varied people.
The Jews took slices in silence as, in compliance with ancient law and ritual, they had washed their hands, intending to eat 3 slices and make this a meal. They took cutlery, anticipating maybe a salad to be brought in, and then, as one, they sat and chowed down, cutting small pieces with the forks, reciting the blessing, and eating.

A grand time was had by all until a heretic, bent on the destruction of his erstwhile people after his being banned for not attending the plenary meetings dealing with the anticipated control of the banks and media in 1300 years, informed to authorities that the Jews had "performed that blasphem[e] which has so oft separated the holy from the profane, eating the 'za with cutlery."

Authorities swooped down, and the dark ages started.
