Have you called the police on someone?

Have you ever called the police on somebody? What were they doing?

The only time I can recall snitching in my adult life was when a man in a wheelchair got physically assaulted and I got between the two people.

    I told police what happened.

One saying that was drilled into me from a young age in juvenile detention centers, was "snitches get stitches" and you never notify law enforcement or correctional officers about somebody's illegal activity.

You can pm me any insult or whatever and I never have nor ever will report a post, because it feels similar.

I've been physically assaulted and had money, a bike, and other things stolen, and it never was tempting to notify police. Living in the ghetto, the last thing I want is to be labeled a snitch.

If I'm talking to officers, somebody's going to see it.

Of course. That's what the police are there for. It was actually at my aunt's house and a vagrant moved into one of the off property houses home which scared us away once we discovered him sleeping there. Called the cops and the cops hauled him away. Turns out later he was an escapee from a mental Asylum.

Apparently he wasn't a terrible person, just Looney. I guess you could say it had a happy ending where he was back getting help and we were relieved he was gone. :0)

An Indian transfer student to the local university got beat up outside our clinic. Called police and cleaned him up with first aid until the police and paramedics arrived.

Called the police for a few domestic assaults in my time too. As the saying goes 'all it takes for evil to prevail is for good men to do nothing.'

Yes, multiple times. The last time was a few months ago when my neighbor was trying to fight with me.

I worked as a cook at a bar and grill. One of the managers was bartending and slipping a buddy of his shots. The waitress reported the guy was trashed, slurring his speech and barely able to walk. She told me the guy had gotten in his car and drove it in a ditch. When someone checked on him, he was asleep at the wheel. The manager was forbidding anyone to call the cops (despite not knowing how badly off he was) but I did anyway, discreetly.

He was pretty pissed, and demanded to know who called. No one admitted. He ended up being fired over it, though I am not sure of any legal action. Thankfully, the guy in the car was okay and the cop took him home.

I have, when an idiot cut the car I was a passenger in off on the freeway. He came so close that our driver spun out attempting to avoid him. Luckily for all of us there was very little traffic (and absolutely no excuse for being cut off that way) and our car did some spinning, but was undamaged when we came to a stop. None of the people in the car were hurt, though we were scared senseless. Someone else took over the driving, after the cops were done with us. I called in the model of the car and a partial plate (I couldn't see all of it) and the cops caught him just down the road. He was drunk...or high...and he let us know his opinion of our reporting him with some very eloquent sign language.

We were told, later, that he was charged with reckless endangerment, a DUI...and I'm not certain his driver's license has been returned to him even yet, and it's been a whole lot of years.

Oh...yeah...last spring I reported that someone had come into our house, stolen one of my mother's checkbooks, and was merrily writing checks totalling something like $7,000. We know who it was, but she hasn't been arrested yet. Seems she's been doing a lot of that stuff and the police want to nab her for all of it. At least, that's what they are telling us.

Is THAT why Democrats think that people like us are racists? Because we actually think that the police are there to DO something?

I've called the police for several car accidents (I lived on a corner prone to such). I've also called for people fighting in other apartments.

No. Democrats, and I hope everyone else, think the racist ones people who call the cops on black people and middle eastern people who are simply existing in public, like the woman in Michigan just days ago who thought a black man was 'looking suspiciously' at her (he was waiting to take her parking spot in a full lot) just days ago. And that some, too many, police respond with inappropriate levels of force.

Called them once on two of my sons when they decided to get physical with each other. Both in their twenties.

Yes. Three times as a teacher ... two on child abuse, one on spousal abuse. Once on a daughter's boyfriend for not turning himself in.

I never understood that stupid-*** mentality. Why would you want to aid and abide crimes against your own self or against other innocent people?

    3 times. Attempted B&E.

Loaded word which shows how you think and that you are not a responsible person. Which is obvious anyways.

This just makes you a fool as you end up protecting criminals.

Because being labeled a snitch in some communities is worse than being a child molester in the eyes of the locals

Same here. I used to have a business that was on a similar corner that would have a couple of accidents a year. I saw a few of them and heard a quite a few more. And then there was the Saturday morning when I was loading my truck for a delivery. The "massage parlor" across the street caught fire. The girls came running out screaming and I called the fire department. At a little after eight in the morning they already had a customer. He was a city councilman from a nearby town. He was helping the girls "ahem" pick out carpeting. The poor guy's face was in the paper and he had a classic "deer caught in the headlights" stare. He lost his next reelection bid.
