I think America really struggles with this. Take out a foreign general, cartel king pin, or corrupt foreign business man, we basically do nothing but help the next guy in line get a promotion. But they act like taking out the one actually accomplishes simething, despite the fact there are plenty in line to take the place of that one.

Trump, and the USA, lost when Trump trashed the peace deal with Iran.

Iran isn't the pushover they were when Bush attacked them.
They've had decades to plan for this USA assault.

I hope not. Well, so much for getting out of that part of the world anytime soon. The weapons manufacturers are no doubt foaming at the mouth now.

The world has caught up some in technology and they don't have to just take it like Iraq did during Desert Shield, Storm Saber, and Strike. That's because smart bombs aren't the cutting edge technology anymore. The MOAB was the biggest bomb then, now Russia has bigger. If the last time in Afghanistan and Iraq is any indication, Iran won't just take it and they don't have to. It's possible even they have some nuclear weapon capacity since Trump removed inspections and stipulations to hinder Iran in obtaining them.

Just started watching the trump stream from 2 hours ago with a title talking about killing the Iranian general. Oh boy. Introduction by Paula White, the comments stream is talking about god, quoting prophecies from ezekiel. America is in he middle-east because it wants a part in some kind of twisted biblical destiny, is my conclusion. But my hope is that trump is actually lukewarm about religion, and that he is at least some kind of closet atheist. Anyway, the past couple days of watching news has only confirmed reasons why I had barely followed politics or news for the past ten years. A more useful use of my time right now, would be reading or learning about any other subject. But I live here. I guess I might as well follow some politics / news, because ultimately these are things I can't really escape can I. I know, maybe I'll spend the whole new decade just reading about all the political drivel

My understanding is that only Congress can declare war. However, the President can use special forces and do strikes like he just did, but it can very possibly lead to a situation where Congress is forced to go to war.
