Happy Thai Pongal, or Makar Sankranti

In these festivals a bonfire is lit with logs of wood, solid-fuels and agricultural waste that are no longer useful so as to prepare for the next harvest.

As per the Prajapita Brahmakumaris, the bonfire is compared to a purifying Yagya or fire ceremony. Makar Sakranti and Pongal symbolizes the need to get rid of our negative sanskars (tendencies) in the purifying fire of the bonfire lit and replace them with positive sanskars or tendencies.

Thus these festivals actually represents transformation and purification of the soul by eliminating all negatives and imbibing divine virtues and qualities.

We did the beseeching of Surya this morning about an hour ago. Fairly warm here. Pongal was tasty, thanks to Boss. We offered incense, flame, flowers, song, and the delicious sweet Pongal.

Here's my prime minister's message. Apparently PM Johnson did one there too.
