....here's a cook book I bought there. Andy Murray used to work at the Rainbow's End cafe. ( I assume you're not Andy Murray :p )

Lucky you. Most people pop out for a loaf of bread or a bottle of milk, I imagine in Glasto people pop out for a crystal or a packet of incense. :D

Lots of different types here, including most religions, Theistic and non-Theistic and trans-everything.
Generally very tolerant and considered safe for outliers.

In about 20 minutes the sun reaches its most southerly point and turns to head north again.

Looking forward in the northern hemisphere to longer and warmer days.

Longer days certainly improve the outlook, happy solstice.

But as far as the solstice goes it is a sign of hope for the next year. We have two vaccines for the Pandemic, Trump was not re-elected. I am sure that there are other signs of better times ahead.

I've wondered, and you might know, is there a way to calculate the phase lag?
There is.
But Earth is a big & messy system.
I've only tackled simple ones...& that was long long ago.
I don't even remember my guzintahz well enuf to attempt that anymore.
Some thoughts....
- The lag would vary with lattitude.
- In Revoltistan, it appears to be about 4 or 5 weeks.
- Proximity to large bodies of water would affect it.

There would be quite a few factors. Latitude would be at the top of the list, but location is extremely important too.

I was thinking about this. The latitude would primarily affect the magnitude of the driving term, right? That typically does not change the phase shift. Phase shift is usually determined by the resistance term and the frequency.

Although, because of tilt, there would be an extra piece on top of the sine wave forcing term. But a constant shift wouldn't affect the phase either.

Maybe a nonlinearity?

I suppose that the resistance term could be local climate. I changed states, but I did not change latitude. In Minnesota we could see storms coming down from the Arctic. They would pass over open prairie and not gain much heat on the way. Now I am in the Pacific Northwest and we just had a storm come up from Hawaii. Moderated by the Pacific it was still rather warm and very wet.

It is said that one can walk from Lands End (most southern point of the UK) to John o' Groats (most nothern point of mainland UK) at the same speed that daffodils come in to flower, thats around 3mph.

Though i have never tried it myself
