A classic Victoria sandwich with raspberry jam (brought back from Brittany and really tasting of raspberries), named after the monarch who liked it so much. My son and I had a couple of slices each with our afternoon tea today.
And tonight we had foie gras with sauternes*, with a salad of frisee and walnuts, with walnut oil and lemon dressing, preceded by a glass of champagne with cheese straws. All most agreeable, I must say.
