    1. received the following from an email.. I don't follow him. Is this true?

    2. In a message recorded in 1979 Hal Lindsey made the following predictions …
    3. *Lindsey predicts a limited nuclear war before 1984 and an all out world war before 1989
    4. *Lindsey predicts that the world will run out of all raw materials before 1986
    5. *Lindsey predicts that the “Jupiter Effect” will occur in 1982 and at that time dams will burst and nuclear power plants will have major melt downs
    6. *Lindsey predicts that the European Union will be the most powerful entity in the world by the mid 1980’s
    7. *Lindsey announces that the Antichrist is alive and well in Europe as he is making this speech and will soon make his appearance
    8. *Lindsey predicts the murder of all Mormons
    9. *Lindsey says that by the end of the 1980’s the Arab nations will have a complete strangle hold on America and dominate the wealth of the U.S.
    10. *Lindsey predicts that Russia will invade Jerusalem in the 1980’s and that the U.S. will be powerless to do anything about it.
    11. *Lindsey announces to the people of his audience that the rapture will occur in their lifetime.
    12. According to Hal Lindsey all of these predictions are based on “Clear Bible prophecies”.

Prophecy teaching still goes on today, the same story as Lindsay, but further off. There still is a guy , jack van impe who is riveted and excited about prophetic fufillment as if its weeks away for over 40 years.

I don't have a copy of The Late Great Planet Earth. That's the book to check.

They call themselves ministers who teach and explain prophecy. Prophetic teachers.

Then there are guys like John Hagee who shout, scream, and rant about end times with a very large following. They make a comfortable living doing it.

Id love to see this junk just cease from existence.

The same sort of person that buys Peter Popoff's miracle water:

And Peter got caught scamming people in the past.

I no longer feel sorry for the people who send him money. They deserve all their losses.

Maybe people have daydreams of having magical powers like being able to tell the future or perform miracles. So they somehow project that daydream of an ability into seeing this ability in others, however nuts that sounds to a same person. To me, the whole idea is just so out there, yet there still should be some kind of psychological explanation. Delusions of grandeur is a diagnosis, but I don't know what it would be called when you project that onto some other person you don't know.

I hope there is something out there that is smarter than me.
Hmph. We are the same age. :)

It was partially due to reading "His", 'Late Great Planet Earth". That I originally converted to Christianity in 1974. Later there was a big ruction, with people saying that he had stolen his Professors notes. I do not know if that is true.

I think that lots of Evangelicals jumped the gun in their interpretation of prophecy. The Bible does say that "No man shall know the hour..."

As for what you say about him above, I am not going to investigate or debate those premises with you.

"In the end time many shall fall away."

In 1973 or 74 my Methodist Church split over Lindsey's garbage.. It was awful.. The ones that left to go to a primitive Baptist church just did so much damage.. accusing people of witchcraft.. talking about the illuminatti and endlessly setting dates for the end of the world.. It was the most ugly, ignorant thing I'd ever run across.

It's very hard to tell whether he's a false prophet. His hit rate is about the same as the real deal.

Not a false prophet... he wasn't a prophet in the first place and I don't think he ever claimed to be (that I know of).

I guess that's true. Hal Lindsey is not a prophet nor does he claim to be. He makes PREDICTIONS (Different term from prophecy ok).

There is no such thing as a prophet, imo.
