ocean of illusion"

Sometime after 1469, {when the founder of Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji was born in Talwandi in Pakistan}, there were ten people that wanted to protect people that were being persecuted.

They wanted to spread peace.

They taught a path to equality.

They give 10% of their money to the poor.
That is commendable!!

They were willing to sacrifice their lives and children for their beliefs.

The Sikh believe there is only one God.
The whole of humanity has one Father.

I believe this too!
"One God and Father of all, who is above all and through all"
Ephesians 4:6 {in bible}
"but to us there is but one God, the Father"
1 Corinthians 8:6 {in bible}

Sikh believe He is the creator.

They believe God is self illuminated, enlightened.
His name is Truth

They are so right! I love the word chosen, "self illuminated".
I gather from this that they believe He knows all truths or He is truthful or both, that He knows all truth and He is truthful.

I believe He knows all truth.

"but behold, all things have been done in the wisdom of Him who knoweth all things.
2 Nephi 2:24 {Another Testement of Jesus Christ}
"he comprehendeth all things"
Doctrines and Covenants 88:41 {revelations revealed to the prophet Joseph Smith}
published by the Church of Jesus Christ of latterday saints

Truth

"Great is our Lord and of great power, His understanding is infinite"
Psalms 147:5 {in bible}
"The Lord knoweth all things which are to come."
Words of Mormon 1:7 {Another Testement of Jesus Christ}

I believe God is truthful
"And the Lord said unto him, Believest thou the words which I shall speak? and he answered yea, Lord, I know that thou art a God of truth and canst not lie."
Ether 3:11-12 {Another Testement of Jesus Christ}
"And I, Enos, knew that God could not lie"
Enos 1:6 {Another Testement of Jesus Christ}
"I, the Lord, promise the faithful and cannot lie."
Doctrines and Covenants 62:6

"A God of truth and without iniquity, just and right is He."
"The Lord God, merciful and gracious, long suffering and abundant in goodness and truth."
Exoduc 34:6 {in bible}

The Sikh believe God is immortal.
I believe this too.
"One eternal God"
Alma 11:44 {Another Testement of Jesus Christ}

Sikh believe God is without form

I believe that God created our spirits as Father of our spirits and designed bodies for us, male and female. These have the ability to procreate and develope bodies for spirits to inhabit while on earth.
It says in Genesis 1:27 {in bible}
"So God created man in His own image, in the image of God, created He him, male and female, created He them"

The Sikh do not allow idol worship
That's good!
"Ye shall make you no idols nor graven image... neither shall ye set up any image of stone in your land to bow down unto it for I am the Lord, your God."
Leviticus 26:1 {in bible}
"Idolatry of the people was bringing a curse upon the land"
Ether 7:23 {Another Testement of Jesus Christ}

Part 2 "The Honest Life, 10% Tithing" to follow

A Sikh must live an honest life, help others, the poor and those in need.

This is very good of them!!!
"...they were men who were true at all times in whatsoever thing they were entrusted. Yea, they were men of truth and soberness for they had been taught to keep the commandments of God."
Alma 53:20-21
A commandment of God
"Ye shall not steal, neither deal falsely, neither lie, one to another"
Leviticus 19:11
"And let every man deal honesty"
Doctrine and Covenants 51:9
A prophet of God said
"The foundation of all character rests upon the principle of honesty, truthfulness and sincerity. We should be honest in our dealings one with another and be true to our word and let our word be our bond."
The thirteenth article of faith of the church of Jesus Christ of latterday saints is
"We believe in being honest, true, chaste, benevolent, virtuous and in doing good to all men."
A prophet has also said tht
"The Lord asks us to develope these traits:
1. Helpfulness, helpful service to humanity
2. Generosity {charity}
3. Kindness

"Comfort the feeble minded, support the weak"
Thessalonians 5:14 {in bible}

"Bear one another's burdens"
Galatians 6:2 {in bible}

"Visit the sick"
Matthew 25:36 {in bible}

"If any man shall give unto you a coat or a suit, take the old and cast it unto the poor"
Doctrines and Covenants 84:105

"Remember the poor and consecrate of thy properties for their support"
Doctrines and Covenants 42:30

"Plead the cause of the poor and needy"
Doctrines and Covenants 124:75

"whatsoever ye would that men should do to you, do ye even so to them."
Matthew 7:12 {in bible}

A Sikh contributes 10 % of income to help the poor.
This is very commendable

The only other religeon that I am aware of that tithes 10 % it's members is the church of Jesus Christ of latterday saints.

Part 3 " Meditation and Baptism" to follow

Sikh believe that noble deeds and meditation is essential for the liberation of the soul.

"This book of law shall not depart out of thy mouth but thou shalt meditate therein day and night that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous and then thou shalt have good success."
Joshua 1:8 {in bible}
"I will meditate in thy precepts and have respct unto thy ways"
Psalms 119:15 {in bible}

Sikk meditate 3 times a day. They find a hyme in the Gurbani that relates to a spiritual need and if it is comforting they meditate upon it.
Gurbani means Guru"s word.
The Hindu and muslims have some of these same hyms.

A possible similarity is Psalms in the bible.
The Psalms are praises set to music and the words sung. They offer words of comfort and inspiration to those who read them.

Baptism

There is a Sikh form of baptism but the article did not contain it. I will share this form of baptism.

"For the gate by which ye shall enter is repentance and baptism by water..."
2 Nephi 31:17 {Another Testement of Jesus Christ}
"And He commanded the chariot to stand still and they went down into the water, both Philip and the eunuch and he baptized him."
Acts 8:38 {in the bible}
"On this wise shall ye baptize them...Behold, ye shall go down and stand in the water and in my Name {Jesus Christ}, shall ye baptize them."
3 Nephi 11:25 {Another Testement of Jesus Christ}
"And then shall ye immerse them in water and come forth again out of the water."
"And after this manner shall ye baptize"
3 Nephi 11:26-27
"The person who is called of God and has authority from Jesus Christ to baptize shall go down into the water with the person who has presented himself or herself for baptism and shall say calling him or her by name, "Having been commissioned of Jesus Christ, I baptize you in the name of the Father and of the Son{the son of God, Jesus Christ} and of the Holy Ghost, Amen"
"Then shall he immerse him or her in water and come forth again out of the water."
Doctrines and Covenants 20:73_74
"Being baptized in the name of the Lord, as a witness before Him that ye have entered into a covenant with Him that ye will serve Him and keep His commandments that He may pour out His Spirit more abundantly upon you."
Mosiah 18:10 {Another Testement of Jesus Christ}
"Then Peter said unto them repent and be baptized, everyone of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins and ye shall receive the Gift of the Holy Ghost."
Acts 2:38 {in bible}
"And it came to pass when they were all baptized and had come up out of the water, the Holy Ghost did fall upon them and they were filled with the Holy Ghost."
3 Nephi 19:13 {Another Testement of Jesus Christ}

"Blesed are they who shall believe your words and come down into the depth of humility and be baptized for they shall be visited with the Holy Ghost and shall receive a remission of their sins."
3 Nephi 12:2 {Another Testement of Jesus Christ}
"And now why tarriest thou?
Arise and be Baptized and wash away your sins, calling on the name of the Lord."
Acts 22:16 {Another Testement of Jesus Christ}
"And Jesus, when was baptized, went up straightway out of the water and the heavens were opened unto Him and He saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and lighting upon Him and a voice from Heaven saying "This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased."
Matthew 3:16

The Sikh have their own scriptures, the teachings of the ten gurus. The gurus are holy teachers who have the same spirit.

Those that I use are:
the bible, Another Testement of Jesus Christ, Doctrines and Covenants and the Prophet's addresses {of the Church of Jesus Christ of latterday saints}
Perhapps this is similar to having one heart and one mind or the same message and the same intention or purpose. They are unified.

Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji is the Sikh living guru.

Gordon B. Hinckly is a living prophet.
He has the gift of prophesy

Thank you for letting me share this with you.

You are good people because you care about others, especially the poor!
