Gun Control

with the two most recent mass shootings, gun violence and gun control is at the front stage again.

Which is better.

Stricter gun laws, or more guns in the hands of the people?

Enforce existing laws. If you outlaw tea bags only outlaws will have tea bags.

More guns in the hands of the people. Get RID of the gun regulations!

More guns in the hands of people mean the bad guys get shot easyer.

Get rid of no gun zones. Those people are sitting ducks to a bad guy with a gun.

Simple and to the point. Use and enforce the laws we already have on the books. That's much too sensible for some people these days.

I still look at how many centuries have passed and suddenly this generation suddenly has a problem by which guns are entirely to blame for said problem?

Despite the increases in gun ownership, the number of shootings and gun deaths has not went down. People are still getting shot and killed, and as the Vegas shooter proves they will just get more creative in protecting themselves while maximizing damage.

Factually incorrect. Actually the number of gun related homicides has indeed dropped while gun ownership increased.

Those statistics that say more guns means more deaths.

Well yes, but, thats misleading. Amongs those deaths, its mostly suicides and cops and others shooting bad guys. And yes, some bad guys shooting. But all of that is in the numbers.

Look here.

Let's fill in some blanks real quick.
mass-shootings-frequency.png

Which make up less than %1 of overall gun crime

I imagine that much of the decreases in the bulk of gun crime has to do with the economy, since unemployment is at historic lows it would be reasonable to estimate that gun crimes will continue a downward trend in the next few years and maybe longer.

I will be charitable and say that your chart is based on dubious data and analysis. Basically it is the product of a left wing think tank using data sources of unknown pedigree and biased analysis. On the other hand, the Cato Institute has produced a chart using data from FBI data. It shows that there are occasional anomalous years but no clear trend with a correlation that mass shootings are increasing.

Great question, imo, more good guys with guns to stop would-be mass shooters could significantly diminish the number of shooting victims around mass shooters.

Stricter gun control and background checks. Ban and buy back semi automatic weapons.

Walmart in El Paso had a lot of armed citizens. You're talking out of your hat.

The El Paso Cielo Vista Mall Walmart where Patrick Crusius went on his shooting rampage is apparently a gun-free zone place where permitted concealed handguns are banned by law.

I think to answer that, one would have to know what the results have been in other countries who have done both. Canada? Holland? Australia? There should be some statistics from non political groups which may be able to be trusted.

More guns=less gun deaths?
Or
Less guns=less gun deaths?

It shouldn't be rocket science.
