I'm trying to assemble enough examples so that I have something to write about, and it seems to me that Jewish practice seems preoccupied with guests. I'm not talking about having your friends come over as hachnasat orchim in general -- I mean the notion of a guest as part of practice. So far, I have the following examples:
1. Every shabbat we welcome the Sabbath Queen in our davening
2. On Pesach we set out a cup for Eliyahu who visits our seder
3. On Sukkot we invite the Ushpizin to our Sukkah.
4. Eliyahu visits each bris -- he even has a special chair set up for him
Are there other examples of our welcoming visitors in Jewish practice?
