The words of Ernestine: After the people/languages were scattered at the Tower of Babel, those people carried the legend about the flood with them, each adding/changing a little bit, but all with the same core truth of a flood of proportional magnitude. Noah's ark is not a myth, but the those stories that follow do contain some myth.
There are two different tales about the language of the people before the flood. One states that the people were grouped according to their tongues and the other says that the world had one language.
Ge 10:5 By these were the isles of the Gentiles divided in their lands; every one after his tongue, after their families, in their nations.
Ge 10:20
These are the sons of Ham, after their families, after their tongues, in their countries, and in their nations.
Ge 10:31
These are the sons of Shem, after their families, after their tongues, in their lands, after their nations.
Ge 10:32
These are the families of the sons of Noah, after their generations, in their nations: and by these were the nations divided in the earth after the flood.

Ge 11:1 And the whole earth was of one language, and of one speech.
