thats because bigotry is a hard position to defend in a debate
But both Dems & Pubs do try their hardest though.
Presidential debates are as useful as a beauty pageant.
We get no information....just performances that manipulate
people susceptible to emotional impressions.

A thought though....
In any debate between politicians, they should skip the
pretense that it's about the issues. make it a talent &
swimsuit competition.

It's a pressure situation. You get some idea of how they would perform under public pressure and how they can respond to being challenged.

But what this refusal shows is that the right is a bunch of "snowflakes" that can't stand even the hint of heat.

That's the problem, ie, getting a sense of
something that matters little. I don't care if
a Prez is lacking in extemporaneous zingers.

Or the recognition that debates are useless at best?
Do you really get value from watching them?

It's not about the zingers or what's said, but the ability to logically rebut a challenge, without resorting to zingers.

As well as stress and pressure tolerance.
Doesn't sound like a measure of leadership,
or is it informative about agendas for the country.

Fine, if they don’t want to debate the other candidate just gets 2 hours of uninterrupted prime time free. Good deal.

But not good for democracy or America.

Stand their ground.
What ground is that? What exactly does refusing to participate in debate offer as a virtue?

Debates are for chumps.
Then chumps support democracy and have actual ideas to help improve society, and can defend these ideas in a debate.

For some reason the GOP doesn't have the confidence or intellectual capacity to be chumps.

Republicans clearly don't want their policies on public display.
If Republicans can't control the message/agenda, they're not for it.

Yes. Much more so than watching their sound-bite commercials, or going to their driveling websites.

This cowardice on the part of the Party of Putin is typical. Don’t go to the media, unless you control the media. The GOP is hereby admitting that they have nothing of value to provide the American people or our nation, and they can whine their little snowflake butts all the way home.

Speaking personally, I do get value from watching them. Part of what makes a debate better or worse is the substance of questions being asked and the ability of the moderator to control unruly participants (which with Trump proved near impossible). The ability to respond substantively to policy questions, as well as cross-examination about their positions, is something I want in a President.

Misleading thread title. The GOP supports debates. It just can no longer accept the biased Commission and its unprofessional biased so-called debates. There is a difference.
