It's evident, from various threads on this site, that there are people who believe that the Bible can be pulled apart without damaging the overall integrity and structure of the whole. They think, for example, that Paul's writings are not authoritative whilst other books in the New Testament are God-breathed. Or they believe that all the books of the New Testament are without divine inspiration, yet accept the writings of the Old Testament (Tanach) as from God.
I would like to suggest that God has given the Bible a perfect weave - an internal structure that cannot be broken.
I would also like to suggest that much misunderstanding, particularly with regard to the Pauline epistles, is the result of failure to appreciate the dispensational nature of God's dealings with mankind.

I don't know. To me the Bible looks like a nearly haphazard collection of 60 odd writings of inconsistent opinion and depth of wisdom. But I do love the hefty feel of holding it in my hands.

That comes in versions with more or less writings, some substantially different than others in what they include. Then there are the translations into and between different languages, and the acknowledged differences in the different originating texts, and then different interpretations of those originals (oh, sorry, we don't actually have any "originals"...) and translations....

Not to mentioned the related texts that were left out of most modern versions, although they were embraced by early followers...

I'm not sure what you mean by this. Could you expand on your thoughts here?

Could you expand on this "dispensational nature" too?

What we call the "Bible" was a conglamerant of writings decided upon by a group of men, under the direction of Constantine, as being the "word of god", from which the books were "nominated" by mere popularity of each of the writings in its day, and was "canonized" by a show of hands where dissenting voters were executed or banished. Wish such a colorful history and under such shady circumstances, it's illogical to assume that these writings comprises the "word of god", if there were even such a thing as either god or a "book" that he wrote.

Anyone heard of 'The restored New Testament' by Willis Barnstone? Saw an interview with him. Says he included the books that the early Catholic church threw out. That's all I know. Don't know if it's credible or not.

What we do know is that for hundreds, even thousands, of years dedicated men and women have looked at the integrity of religious texts. Above all else, the desire amongst scholars has been to discover the truth. It benefits no-one, in the long-term, to deceive, or promote a lie.

It is also worth repeating the words of warning that are found throughout the Bible regarding God's desire to see the Word remain intact.
Deuteronomy 4:2, 'Ye shall not add unto the word which I command you, neither shall ye diminish ought from it'
Proverbs 30:6, 'Add thou not unto his words, lest he reprove you, and thou be found a liar'.
Revelation 22:19, 'If any man take away from the words of the book of this prophecy God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in the book'.

So if the words of the Bible are, in their origin, words of God, and perfect, the matter is more one of ironing out small unintentional errors than one of grappling with a great deception.

And if they are not the words of God, and not perfect?

That would be so interesting if the restoration were faithful.

But, you see, the word(s) were added to, and you call them the "New Testament".

BTW, just for your info, I do not believe in "scriptural inerrancy", plus I think the concept of "divine inspiration" is more of a question than an answer, and that includes the "O.T.", the "N.T", and all other scriptures in any other religion.

If the Bible does not contain the Truth, and is not of universal application, then it's to be treated like any other book. Take the bits you like and discard the rest.

What should be apparent from history alone, however, is that this book has changed lives. And if the message is to be believed, the world itself was created through, and is governed by, the living Word.

From what I understand, he includes the gnostic gospels which were rejected by the RCC.

Okay. Since other written traditions (not to mention the unwritten or only partially written) also claim being inspired, and do apparently have valuable bits, and have changed lives (both for better and for worse), and if believed, also make claims about the creation and operation of the world....and if they do not contain the truth, they are not of universal application, and should then be treated as any other book...

What are the grounds for believing any, or yours in particular?

The great test of whether the New Testament is a natural continuation of God's revelation is the fulfilment of past scripture and the completion of divine purpose. Both these things are found in the New Testament.

In fact, I did go to some trouble to list some of the parallel references. I don't expect you to read them all, but they should provide you with evidence that the New Testament is 'woven' with Old Testament references, all of which are totally compatible.

And thats exactly why God wouldn't put his word in books, written by man.
I grew up Baptist. As I aged I couldn't ignore the multitude of Christian denominations. After doing my homework I became non denominational. It was pure silliness that denominations built their Churches focusing in on certain passages and interpreting the rest of the Bible to suite their interpretation of said passages.
After making that breakthrough and spending years as a Christian apologist. I wanted to test all challenges to my belief. I felt surely that if I had the truth, it could withstand it. 2 years ago I gave up claim to my Christianity. I've concluded that the only beneficiaries of religion are those that run them.
Don't get me wrong. Theres a world of vast knowledge hidden not only in the Bible, but other religious text aswell. But these literal saviors of humanity is bull. Their allegories, plain and simple.

Does this same logic also apply to the Lord of the Rings?
    Harry Potter?
    Incantations of Immortality?
    Sword of Truth?
    Xanth?
    Shannara?

    if not, why not?

I not only read it many times over, I also taught it and still continue to teach it (a looooooooooooooong story).

Also, it should be again noted that the "N.T." was written after two of the verses you cited in your post #8, so you really shot yourself in the foot on that.
